My first time here after hearing rave reviews from friends and family. I was very happy with our dining experience. The restaurant was very clean and the staff incredibly attentive. Chef Bianchi was wonderful to speak with and it was a pleasure to watch him and the kitchen work in front of us while we sat at the bar. I must say their signature cocktail, the Radici, made with mezcal and beets was quite lovely and mezcal forward which I absolutely love. They won me over with this drink alone! I read that the chefs and staff come from Turin Italy, which I have not visited but I stayed close by in Sanremo and the food is definitely different than southern Italian food, this isn't New York or Sicilian styled food, it's real Italian style which is soft flavors blended perfectly and made from real ingredients, not just a bunch of onions and garlic. I started with the Carpaccio which was perfectly delicate and tender balanced with a thin slice of melon. We also had the scallops which were wonderfully arranged and prepared to perfection with a light sauce to bring out their flavor. My daughter is in love with their summer salad and cannot tell you enough about how delicious it is. She also had the Tuffoli White duck ragu which to be honest I tried a bite and it made me rethink pasta as I am not a pasta fan. The ragu, if I could have that in a bowl I 100% would, it is divine with just the right amount of salt/fat ratio. I opted for the Ribeye. The chef was absolutely lovely because I am a pain in the butt and he was so accommodating. I greatly dislike artichokes and asparagus which is their main sides and he tried everything to find a side I wanted but all I wanted was the meat. He understood and then had the forethought to ask if I wanted the sauces on the side, which was wonderful. Aside from the Mezcal, I am all carnivore so that was a huge plus for me! My ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and a good portion. 2 people in my party ordered the Lamb. My son gave his grilled peach to his sister but hey, grilled peaches aren't for everyone. She loved them! The lamb was also cooked perfectly and wonderfully seasoned. This was a lovely dinner and I cannot wait to return and maybe bring...
Read moreAnticipation of 3 weeks for our reservation had our hopes high. The great reviews and the fact that the restaurant is the brainchild of Chez George's owner, also boosted our Anticipation of a fine dining experience. We went with friends and no one was happy with their meal! The good: The restaurant remodel was modern and stylish. The waitstaff was attentive & helpful. The chocolate tart dessert was really good. The not so great: It's like a bathhouse in the restaurant, so loud & noisy. If you wear a hearing aid, you will not be comfortable here. It is next to impossible to hear conversations due to the loudness and we could not hear the waiter describing the night's specials. He had to do his spiel 3 times. There's no sound breaks at all. Foodwise: From appetizers, through salads, and Mains, we were underwhelmed & disappointed. The carpaccio was not well seasoned. nor did it present with the flavor contrasts that pair so well with carpaccio. The best I can say is the meat was tender. The green leaf Salad dressing was bland and the salad was shy on Asparagus and apple. For the Main, a few of us had the clam spaghetti, which was cool and overwhelmingly dry and underseasoned. We all commented on how cold the noodles were. We expected them to be moist and at least somewhat warm. The only interesting part is the way it was served, all curled up into itself. Some had the Tuscan Neck Ravioli, which was extremely salty; without asking we didn't know the meat in it was beef instead of pork. Another friend commented that the fish and sides were just ok, definitely not memorable. As I had put this dining group together, our experience was a Big disappointment to me and to hear how disappointed my friends were too made the evening a total bust. Under mediocre circumstances, I might give the restaurant a second chance. But with nothing good except dessert, I am inclined to skip the...
Read moreOur reservation was opening time on Sunday (11 AM). Did not need the reservation. Only one other couple there during our 1.5 hours.
Restaurant has been cleaned up and modernized since it was Pour Richard’s. Bright and airy now. Well done by new owners. Nice music and Italian spoken in the still open kitchen.
We both had the Chef’s 3 course set menu. $38 each. We both chose the prosciutto with mellon (ok), I had the lasagna (excellent), my wife had the pasta special (spaghetti with cheery tomato sauce)/good. For desert we had the tiramisu (good), and panna cotta (excellent).
Our waiter Eric was very helpful. Kept the pace right. No rush. Saw him when we needed him.
Focaccia bread was terrific. The olive oil amazing. $5 charge.
I tried a glass of the Sicilian Red which was very good. My wife had a glass of their Prosecco, also good.
Will most certainly try this restaurant for dinner.
Several weeks later we had dinner here. Wonderful. Lenora was our server and she was terrific. Paced our meal perfectly. We had a bottle of that Sicilian Red that I mentioned during my lunch review. Amazing value.
We shared the Caponet sausage and cheese as an appetizer. Wonderful. Try it. We also had their focaccia bread with olive oil which was amazing. For entrees we had the Tuscan neck ragu ravioli and the Nerano tajarin with parmesan cream. Both of these house made pasta dishes were perfect! Just delicious.
If you haven’t tried this restaurant, do yourself a favor. The owners have done such an amazing job cleaning up and furnishing the space. ...
