Unbelievably delicious food, and not just the stuff you've never had. Top to bottom the whole dining experience was unique and incredible. Every choice is better than the last and the owners couldn't be nicer, don't be intimidated, don't worry, go get some!
The menu is full of things that seem both daunting and delicious and it was a bit difficult deciding what I wanted. To be honest I was a bit worried nothing would really hit like I wanted. But once you taste the food you're going to wish you had ordered one of everything.
I had the Pork Sisig and my wife had the Sotanghon and we were both shocked by how much we liked the food. But, to be honest I've never had Pork Sisig before so how do I know how good it should be?
You know what I have had? Broccoli and Fried Rice. I bet you have to, but never this good. I promise. It's just broccoli, how good it taste this good? I've had fried rice a million times but never like this. It confirmed my suspicions that the Pork Sisig really is as incredible as I thought.
Sometimes you see an influencer on social media selling you some cool new food fad in some major city that you don't live anywhere close to and it makes your mouth water, just dreaming about the day you can afford to fly over and buy some. This is it. This is the place you should be going. Forget the fad. If you live within driving distance and you aren't rushing out to try it right now then you're doing yourself a disservice.
Don't be intimidated because you're not sure what the food is. Don't be intimidated because you think you don't like that kind of food. Go get it, right now. This is the kind of place that deserves to be well known, that deserves to be packed every night!
Oh, and as everyone else said the family that owns/cooks and serves are genuinely fantastic people. Passionate about the food, the culture and their guests. This is a TOP NOTCH experience all the way around and you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't get out...
Read moreWow, yo! Where do I start? Was out riding our Harleys with friends and we ended up in Amish country (from Cleveland). Then one said "I'm hungry. Let's find a place to eat!" Never having been to Danalynn's before, but have been wanting to try, this was the perfect opportunity. I immediately said "there's this Filipino restaurant about 30 mins. from here we that can go to." All agreed. And, boy, am I glad!!!
We walked in and it was a pretty big, open space with plenty of tables - big enough for a party or small banquet. Nothing fancy, but very welcoming. We were immediately greeted by Analynn herself as she showed us to our table. She then sent Dan over to take our orders. We ordered the kare kare (peanut stew) with lechon kawali (crispy pork belly), sizzling pork adobo, beef bulalo (bone marrow soup), and pansit to share.
The food arrives and Analyn's presentation is magnificent! [If looks could be tasted]. Time to eat! WOW!!! The kare kare was flavorful; the peanut sauce with perfect consistency; the vegetables cooked perfectly and placed on top; the lechon kawali perfectly crispy! The sizzling pork adobo was no adobo I've ever had before. I usually like mine wet... with sabaw (sauce), but this version of Annalyn's was amazing! And the bulalo... the flavors of umami punches your tastebuds with the first sip!!!
By gosh... this is some of the best Filipino food I have had ANYWHERE, but especially in NEO!!! Looking forward to trying their buffet - 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month! And of course, there's a ton more on their menu that we will be back for. A three hour roundtrip for this culinary gem is definitely worth the while! If you're a fan of the cuisine, pro tip: DO NOT miss...
Read moreA major disappointment, not worth the travel time. Good idea to promote Philippine cooking, but executed very badly. NOT RECOMMENDED.
The menu labeled “Filipino-American” is a red flag; a sign of trying to appease local Americans instead of being true to their advertised Filipino identity.
To begin with, the menu has no vegetable entrees, which is not consistent with Filipino cuisine. Then there are selections like fried mozzarella (really??) and eggplant that is very thickly battered, sagging with oil and ver bland. Then worst is the lumpia, which is classic Filipino, but are so very skinny, almost charred and glistening with oil and cool interior indicating a re-frying of a previously made batch.
The entrees are dismal. The Pork Sisig, while flavorful, is very oily and served on iron platter that is also coated with oil… why? The Ox Tail Kare Kare, quintessential Filipino food, is also flavorful BUT lukewarm with coolish interior; served with boiled dry (previously frozen) vegetables (banana blossoms) that’s cold and bland. Worst of the worst is the Crispy Pork Belly, which are not really crispy crunchy but are sagging from a very thick, unrendered subcutaneous fat… quite unpleasant.
Oh what a pity! The cook and owner may wish to re-think...
