We ate lunch at Western Sizzlin today. It just so happened to be Senior Day, so I got a discount. This place reminds me a lot of Ponderosa they used to have all over Ohio. They have 2 salad bars. One was for green salads with a good selection of toppings and salad dressings. The other one was prepared salads, cottage cheese, and fruit. Again, there was a good selection. Interestingly, they had the calorie contents on their prepared salads and salad dressings posted.
There were also 2 hot bars. I ate only vegetables and a very overcooked hamburger steak with a few onions on top. The greens were too salty, but other vegetables were not seasoned at all. They had baby carrots, but they were too sweet for my taste. I must preface this with the fact that I'm gluten intolerant and have a pork sensitivity. They had chicken, sausage, hamburger steak, pulled pork, etc. I just couldn't eat most of them
There is also a dessert bar with cake, pies and cobblers. Again, I couldn't eat them. I did have a small dish of ice cream. But the only choice they had was chocolate.
I would have like an allergen chart with what foods contained the most common allergens. If I go back, I'll probably eat...
Read moreBy far the worst food experience we have ever had! We were shocked there was even a western sizzle still open and as we drove by my mother law suggested it as she had fond memories. After being seated we realized they no longer prepared steaks and it was only a buffet. There was absolutely not one food item on the bar that my 7 year old would eat except the roll and he is not a picky eater. I did put a piece of the friend fish on his plate he tried it and spit it out. My husband got the mac and cheese which looked like gloop. He said it was un eatable. I tried the mashed potatoes (instant) and pork roast both were cold and flavorless. The squash and zucchini tasted like burnt oil. My mother in law tried to eat a salad but thought otherwise after witnessing children playing in the salad bar with their hands. She ate a roll and some corn. We left mad after spending over $60 for the 4 of us and are now praying we make it home while our stomachs are all rumbling!!! Pray for my car interior! Avoid this place i don't know how it is still in...
