MAKE A RESERVATION! My parents and I tried to get a table Friday night around 8pm, and they said “Sorry, but we’re booked for the rest of the night.” We got back in the car, made a reservation for Saturday night, and ate elsewhere. That’s how you know it’s gonna be good!
Parking is sparse, but they do offer complimentary valet. We didn’t realize that until after we parked.
We walked up to the hostess stand around 7:45pm, and informed her we had a reservation for 8:00pm. She gave us a buzzer and said we’d be seated shortly. They have a cool little herb garden growing to the left of the entrance. It was nice to look around while killing time. 15 minutes went by, and we were still waiting. It seemed as though several other groups were seated before us even though they arrived after us. We waited another 15 minutes, and were finally seated at 8:15pm.
We ordered Vegan Spinach & Artichoke Dip to start our meal. It was quite good, and both of my non-vegan parents said they would’ve never known it wasn’t dairy cheese/cream based on taste alone. The chips are a little thick and has a kind of grittiness to them that I didn’t care for, but the dip was tasty.
I ordered the Vegan Shepherd’s Pie for my entrée. I was disappointed. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t very good either. According to the menu, it has “lentils, roasted vegetables, potato purée, & Daiya provolone.” The lentils were bland and reminded me of refried beans in appearance. I don’t recall seeing any roasted vegetables. They either forgot them or were cut up so small I couldn’t taste them. The potato purée was also bland. The only part of the dish I enjoyed was the Daiya provolone that was on top of the potato purée, which is ironic because I don’t like the taste of Daiya cheeze. I wanted to like it. I really did. I think if they had made it like most Shepherd’s Pies, where the potato covers the entire top, it would’ve been better. They boast about using 2/3 less salt, but honestly, this dish could’ve used salt or some other seasoning.
For dessert, we shared a piece of their Vegan Chocolate Fudge Cake. It was DIVINE! My favorite part was the chocolate fudge-like icing on the top of the cake.
We were stuffed! Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant, and I will be back more! If you want REAL, good food, this is the place for you.
Tip for the owners: Remove “grass-finished” from your vocabulary. It was confusing, and when we asked our waitress what that meant, she seemed uncomfortable talking about slaughtering animals. It doesn’t exactly make for the best dinner...
Read moreDisappointed…Families Not accommodated at Dinner
We dined at Farmer’s Table in Boca Raton with our family this evening which included our two-year-old, and five year old, only to discover a policy that left us stunned: although the restaurant owns high chairs, they refuse to make them available during dinner service—a decision that is both baffling and burdensome for families with young children.
Let me be clear: this is not a case of the restaurant lacking high chairs. They have them on-site but intentionally restrict access after a certain hour, as a matter of policy established by the “Management Team”. When we asked to use one, we were told they’re only used for lunch and then stored away for the evening. No logical or rationale was provided. As parents, we were left to balance our toddler on our laps throughout dinner, making what should have been an enjoyable family meal uncomfortable and impractical.
This policy sends a clear message: young children are not wanted during dinner service. While the restaurant is free to set its own policies, this one defies basic logic and hospitality. Parents should not be forced to choose between dining out and subjecting themselves—and nearby patrons—to the chaos of toddlers without proper seating.
More importantly, Farmer’s Tableshould consider the implications of such a policy from a public accommodation standpoint. If a child required a seating accommodation due to a disability, would the restaurant still withhold access based on the time of day? It’s a slippery slope, and one that veers dangerously close to discriminatory treatment.
We had expected Farmer’s Table to reflect the inclusive and family-friendly values suggested by its name and reputation. Unfortunately, this policy—and the rigid way it was enforced—made it clear that some guests are more welcome than others. We were offered a booster but, for a two year old is impractical especially when they have high chairs.
Until this policy is revised, we will not be returning—and we encourage other families to think twice before making a reservation.
I will say the Manager did a good job of calmly explaining this ridiculous policy and discounted our bill…which we never asked for or wanted. I want families aware of this issue and highly encourage families with young children to consider other options besides...
Read moreA pleasant night out at a very nice restaurant, with a warm, cozy, rustic atmosphere.
It was our first time at the very popular location, and there was definitely a big crowd to show just how popular it is. Luckily we had a reservation, because the wait most definitely was not short.
The seating, service and decor was all fantastic, though the restaurant really seems to narrow in on a particular crowd. The clientele, prices, theme; everything fitting in with the Boca crowd.
We ordered the Spaghetti squash with chicken meatballs, and the Buddha bowl. Both were very good, and the ingredients were clearly high quality. The vegetables, spices, and herbs really came through, which is good because that is the main theme of the restaurant.
Though both of these dishes were delicious, they were not sensational and in my opinion did not live up to the $20+ price. They were good, but are not dishes i'm thinking about or craving. Sometimes an hidden local gem has dishes for $12 that make you say "wow". Here it seems the theme, atmosphere and quality seem to be the priority, and what set the price.
The spaghetti squash was an incredible dish for the health conscious eater, but i felt like, aside from the incredible sauce, it was not something i can't make at home. It is definitely great to appease the customers that have particular dietary preferences and have a hard time finding meals at more traditional restaurants.
The Buddha bowl was the favorite of the two, and reminded us of a hearty ramen. Though made with quality, fresh ingredients and a delicious broth, it was not particularly unique.
Though we don't go out to dinner often, we enjoy paying for a unique restaurant experience we feel is worth the price. The visit here was spawned from a Gift-card we received, and so since there is still a balance we'll be back to explore the menu some more and maybe venture into the less traditional items to see if we can find something unique. But as of now, once the card balance is dried out, Farmers table will for us remain a very good restaurant, though not one more selective, less-frequent restaurant goers like us will be likely...
