I just got back from eating lunch at Luka's.
I live within the neighborhood. Ever since Luka's opened up my mother and I have been eyeing this restaurant. A chance for us to eat there finally came, we saw a deal on groupon for two entrees and two appetizer for lunch.
We arrived at the restaurant 1:30ish and were seated right away. The restaurant had about 5 tables occupied and there was also a company/goup luncheon with 30 (roughly) people.
As soon as we were seated, the person who seated us asked us what we would like to drink. We got our drinks and some bread... and then nothing. Our waiter didn't even show up for another 15 mins. He didn't even show up on his own, we had to flag a random server down. We asked the random server about the groupon, I have never used a groupon voucher at a restaurant, he said "yeah, you can use it" and threw it on the table as he was walking away. It was another 5 mins before our actual waiter showed up to receive our order. Our food came rather quickly. We ate it. My father ate Gnocchi in Bolognese Sauce, my ate eggplant parm and I ate Veal specialty dish (can't remember the name of it). We ordered for my three year old daughter spaghetti with meatballs. The food was good except for the spaghetti. It tasted horrible. There was nothing wrong with the noodles, but the sauce was horrible. To be frank, I've had better tasting sauce straight out of the can in the grocery isle. Now I get to the point where I am really writing this review. When my father's gnocchi and my daughter's spaghetti arrived, I asked the server for a plate for my daughter. I asked for it because the entree was too big for her and she would never finish it. She tends to eat light for lunch, so we wanted to feed her off a smaller plate. The server brought a plate no wider than 4inches. I asked for a different plate, because no matter how tiny a child may be... you do not feed a child off of a bread plate. Then the real horror began. He pulled the charger plate from underneath her pasta bowl and told us to feed her off of that. I don't know where he learned his waitering... you do not tell the customer to eat off a charger plate.
I was very disappointe with how they handle their customers. Their food might be great... If I just wanted the food, I would've ordered take out. You go into the restaurant for the service. My dad having to own a restaurant himself in the past left a great tip. If it was up to me, I would've not left a tip.
I will never return to...
Read moreA charming, comfortable, local family place where once you go there, they will remember you like family. One of our diners is a regular but it was my first time. George greeted us and was very welcoming and Juan was our server and he was terrific. All the guys on the floor seemed very attentive to all their tables but these 2 gentleman made our personal evening delightful. We had the hot antipasto for 2, fried calamari, escargot in garlic and butter sauce and one of us tried the soup. We enjoyed sharing all the dishes Our entree's were 3 veal dishes that were all like cutting through butter with our fork. No knife needed :) Veal Luka, Veal Sorrento, Veal Francese over angel hair in the same sauce my only thing is I would like more sauce next time for the pasta. Lou, the regular of the group had linguine with baby clams (vongole) he loved it. My hunny, had sole almondine over angel hair in the same sauce too and like me, just wished he had more "sauce". All the meals were tasty, salads came with the meal as well as some mixed veggies we shared at the table. It is BYOB, great thing for all of us. They have a parking lot. We went on Saturday around 5:30 and by 6:30 the line was out the door. Enjoyed it a lot, will definitely go back and will hopefully get to try a dessert next time. We were too...

My boyfriend and I came here for a date night three years ago and we’ve been weekly customers since.
We’ve tried the Chicken Parmigiana, Fettuccini Alfredo, Raviolis, Meatballs, Spiedini, Tortellini Alfredo, Gnocchi and etc. Every single item tasted like it was cooked by my mom for Sunday dinner; now that’s impressive.
The chicken was thin sliced and breaded ever so perfectly. The marinara sauce was packed with flavor and the mozzarella had an exceptional consistency. The Spiedini is like a slice of heaven in your mouth…. Trust me. Worried about oil or chewy chicken? Think again.
They are also a BYOB and accept “To Go” orders for the nights when cooking is not an option and you’re too tired to get dressed up.
Most importantly, Lukas is a family owned business that truly cares about their community and customer. The owners can always be seen interacting with customers and ensuring that they have the best experience at their restaurant. Let’s not forget their phenomenal wait staff that work so hard - even with the current staffing shortages nationally.
GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY! YOU...
