What can i say, most people will read reviews and get a sense of what a place might be like or taste like. But this place has got to be tried out in order to understand that this place is a gem of a pizza spot. I have to be honest, I've only been here once and all i ordered was a large pizza with bacon and Pepperoni on it. Now I'm a huge pizza aficionado. I make it a point to go to as many well reviewed pizzerias as possible with my two kids. It's kind of our little thing that we do together because we all love pizza! I can't believe this pizza is made in NJ!, no offense. The ingredients are intensely fresh in your mouth. The flavor and sauce-cheese-dough ratio was perfect, more on the saucy side but when the sauce taste this good you wish you could just drink more...yes you heard correctly, tomato soup anyone....mmmm... continuing, they have fresh grated parmesan, and i used almost an entire cup of the stuff for no added fee! Anyone who knows grated cheese, knows it taste best when grated fresh! It's ashame I'm not good enough with words to describe how exquisite this pizza was...somebody pinch me.... i don't give positive reviews for pizza easily and the best part is i found this place by accident. I was going to the Ridgefield park cinema, had some time to kill before the movie. Man am i glad i decided on pizza tonight. The bacon they gave us was freshly made full stips that were cut up, not some precooked restaurant depot bag with flavorless dried out bacon bits...ughhh, this bacon was delicious. Only thought would be to have the chef put two wax papers down underneath a pie like this that gets really greasy. The grease did absorb a bit back into parts of the underbelly of the slice causing it to get a little soggy, but the crispness of the bread still came through because it was perfectly cooked and the dough definitely had a chance to rest before they used it. Only wish my children were a little younger, because at 10 and 12, they both finished two slices. And with my girlfriend and i each having two as well, with the pizza tasting this good, i miss the days when there would be a nice doggy bag to come home for a late night snack because my kids got too full....well now that's just wishful thinking..look forward to my next visit...btw do you deliver...
Read moreMy husband and I have passed by this pizzeria dozens of times since we moved to the area, and we finally decided to give it a try this week.
The menu spans a surprisingly diverse array of entrees, given the fact that it calls itself a pizzeria. Pizzas can be purchased by the slice or as freshly made pies, and we opted to try a mushroom and sausage slice from the counter.
The food is decent. I thought both pizza slices could have used more sauce, but both had impressively rigid crusts after their trip in the oven, so much that there were audible crunches when we took our first bites. My husband opted for a Mediterranean salad and asked for chicken to be added on top. Imagine our surprise when we got the salad and there was not only a steaming pile of seasoned chicken slices, but also big slices of fried eggplant. I would've never expected such a fantastic salad from a humble pizzeria, but my husband promised the owner he'd be returning just for that salad. The fried calamari, on the other hand, was more of a disappointment, with a salty exterior and a few tough and rubbery pieces.
I don't think anyone ever visits a pizzeria for its ambiance, but this was definitely one that's seen better days. The restaurant seems a little on the older side, and the signs appeared to be yellowing. That said, the folks behind the counter were incredibly warm and hardworking, and I like to think about supporting such a local neighborhood spot.
I can't believe I'm saying this about a pizzeria, but as far as Papa's goes, I say - come try the pizza; stay...
Read moreThe driver who delivered my order went ahead and tipped himself an additional 4$from my card when I had already tipped him cash. I called back and spoke to the manager Chaz, he told me I would be able to use the money that was STOLEN towards the next order and refused me a refund. I took the offer and ordered a 14” small pie today, which I have gotten two weeks ago for 10$ (online it’s priced as 8.45). Chaz then tells me my total and assures me that the discount was added. He charged me 9 with change and proceeds to lie about the pricing for a small pie once I questioned him. Meaning that the total charged to me was 8.45 (original pricing) +tax. It’s not a lot of money, but it’s the principle. They let an employee steal, didn’t give me a refund and proceeded to lie to me in order to not let me use the “credit” THEY had offered me. Don’t go here, the way “management” handled this situation was super unprofessional. I will not...
