Minar Halal Meat & Groceries — Local services in Teaneck Township

The place is a shocking health violation. Butcher was not wearing gloves. The owner/butcher used his bear hands to butcher meat, bagging the meat and handling it back to me with his bloody hands. I observed that he did not wash his hands when he opened the fridge door, he did not don and take off new gloves between handling new meats.

Also, bonus points, there were a few dollar note books thrown in, next with with the lamb meat in the open counter freezer where you can see everything. That is crazy shocking! No proper safe handling hygiene at all.

I was charged $10 for 1/2 pound of lamb meat. I could get 1 pound of grass fed lamb meat at Whole foods for $10.

I came here to see what the local neighborhood could offer and support local shops, but this was more then a huge disappointment, I am sorry but as someone in the health care space, avoid this place at all cost, it has to be shut down by the health department or he needs to do a overhaul on safe and sanitary food handling practices.

I love shopping at Minar! I discovered this place in 2022, the customer service is always great and consistent. I can safely give a review now because I am always, always happy with my experience and purchases. First of all, the meats are top quality, and let me tell you this, they customize your cuts for however you plan to prepare. For example, I asked for lamb, he asked how I plan to cook it, I said on the grill, he said ok I’ll leave a little fat on since it’s for the grill…that is just one of many experiences. Everyone I’ve recommended said they wish they knew about this place sooner. Great store to spend your money lol… I love it there! Photos: Custom cut of the Porterhouse Steak. Edit-(7/30) I order him over phone and he does the needfull. I wish I can grant him more than 5 stars. PS: I am a smal 2-3 lbs coustomer for him but he treats me with respect.

Long due Edit 03/29 - Owner guy is very friendly and gentleman. I appreciate the way he handles his customers. He listens to my preferences and does the right thing. He chops the lamb pieces perfectly the way I want. Other day I asked him to keep red onions on a lighter note- and he started doing that couple weeks later. Its 5 start plus. :)

PS readers- I am a very small revenue customer for him but he treats all of his customers equally and I have seen that during busy hours.
