Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Bolingbrook

I recently visited Brown’s Chicken and was excited to try their hand-cut zabihah halal menu. I ordered a little bit of everything to get the full experience: the catfish filet, fried chicken, mushrooms, coleslaw, and fries. The quality of each item truly stood out.

The fried chicken was a definite highlight—crispy on the outside and perfectly juicy inside, with a flavorful seasoning that wasn’t overly salty, just right. The catfish filet was surprisingly tender, with a light, crispy coating that complemented the mild flavor of the fish. It’s rare to find halal options like this, and Brown’s delivered!

The sides didn’t disappoint, either. The mushrooms were fresh and lightly battered, adding a great texture to the meal, while the coleslaw had a nice balance of tangy and creamy that paired well with the chicken. The fries were classic, golden and crispy. I appreciated the attention to quality across the board.

Knowing that they serve hand-cut zabihah halal meat makes it even better, as it’s not easy to find that level of care in preparation. Brown’s Chicken is definitely a spot I’ll return to, especially when I’m craving comfort food that’s halal...

First impressions are always important when you are trying to hire someone. I have never been to this location and do not know anything about the employees. While I am sure they are respectful to customer’s and provide great customer service. The hiring manager, is not the most respectful nor the nicest. I spoke to the hiring manager about a potential interview with him and I was asked the normal questions. How many years of customer service do I have. What restaurants have I worked at. The usual stuff. All of that was fine! But then when I had explained that I was currently working at another restaurant, the manager rudely said “well you have a job. You don’t need another job. So why are you calling about an interview”. When I explained I needed a second job he stumbled over his words and hesitantly said I could come in for an interview. The owner and son are super nice! When i came in to pick up my orders it wasn’t ready due to he wants everything to be fresh and hot. I ordered 2 baked mostaccioli he combined my order and put it into one huge tray 😳. The tray was more than what i paid for and he then gave me more freshly baked biscuits. He was offering to give more free bread sticks 🥖 I didn’t want to take all their food 😆 and also I was in hurry. Wish all the restaurants owner and staff would be like them, Not because he was giving more food the way he appreciates his customers and very welcoming. The food are fresh and good. I wish it was closer to my home i like Brown’s mushrooms 🍄. Someone mentioned the breading is different I had to think about it it’s been awhile since i ordered Brown’s mushrooms. I actually like the new version than the old breading....
