J & J Fish — Restaurant in Bolingbrook

Been going to this location since 2009 and it used to be great. Now- the wings are way overpriced, they put the larger wings on top then the majority are tiny so they throw them on the bottom so you don't even see them until you get home, they taste funny, they're over cooked, everything is fried in old/stale oil, the fries are always soggy and cold. We went on New Year's Eve and the fries taste like onion rings and the wings were just......horrible. No matter what time you show up your order isn't ready at the promised time or even 20 minutes after the promised time. You used to be able to see in the back where they were cooking but that is covered with a catering banner so who even knows what's going on back there with your food. It's really disappointing because the guy who is cooking has been there since we started going in 2009 and he's the main reason we have been going back. He's always been nice/polite to me and my kids, and he is always apologetic when we have to wait a while for our food. Seems like I've gone there numerous times and he is the only one taking orders, collecting payments, and making the food. The rest of the staff is just rude. I can't afford to pay almost $50 for 30 funny tasting wings and some cold soggy fries, not to mention the cost of the sauce. Everything in there is covered in layers of grease. It would be easier to look past that if the food was still good. The new owners need to shut down, renovate, do a DEEP clean of the whole restaurant, get rid of the fake jewelry/clothes/purses they're selling at the front of the restaurant, and add some chairs since we all wait so long for our food to be ready. Or buy the Dairy Queen next door so they can expand to double the size of the kitchen, hire more staff, buy actual catfish, and make better tasting food. When I was in high school, I used to go to the one by Walmart- because there was no other place to go, and haven't been back since this one opened. If I could rate it less than one star, I would. I ordered off of the Uber Eats delivery app from this restaurant which I have done for the last 10 years over a hundred times. From respective job events and personal meals to family meals so on and so forth. Today when I ordered however everything went smooth up until the point in which my delivery was due to be delivered. I was handed a bag that I knew from the moment to touch my hand was not my order. I searched inside it was definitely not my order. Not only was it not my order, it was an order in which if I had even touched it, it would have killed me based off how lethally allergic I am to what was in that bag. The Uber driver refuse to communicate with me even though he knew he messed up and simply drove off. I then called the restaurant they blamed Uber although, and this is coming from a manager of 2 different restaurants, they did not mark the bag, there was no receipt provided with the customers name on it, which they possessed. And they pretty much told me they have nothing they can do I just have to accept the order that I had. Basically meaning shut up and eat the poisonous food that we gave you and call it a night all though it would have killed me, and I relayed as much to them. I ordered chicken and gizzards I got fish. I am lethally allergic to fish. The only thing restaurant cared was shifting blamed to Uber. Both the restaurant and Uber were reckless, rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. Both severely lacking care and concern for the customer and the product. If you value your safety and the life of those you care for as well as yourself,do not order from this restaurant. I will never go back. I went yesterday ordered smaill wings with fries, small cat fish dinner and a small jack salmon. 1st the guy tryed to cheat me. My bill was $26 or $27 and some change. When he told me my total I started looking up at the menu and adding and he said oh I over charged you $1.00. I told him that it still didn't add up he said I charged you for the sauce. When I was ordering he asked if I wanted sauce? I told him yes mild and hot, he said for each order I said yes. Anyway sauce is 35cents a piece. I told him that if there was an additional charge for sauce he should have told me that up front. I told him that was poor customer service and they shouldn't charge for sauce he said I just work here. The place was dirty. The floors the two tables I could see it if it was right after lunc but it was about 5p.m and it even looked dirty behind the counter. I had to wait about 30 minutes for my food. I had the cat fish and when I got home it was cold with no flavor he did put lemon pepper on it but I couldn't taste it and could only see it on one piece of the fish.
