Our neighbors of 10 years (family of three) were moving away. After they spent all day packing, we offered to take them to their favorite place for dinner: Olive Garden. But there was a 50 minute wait for a 5-top. So, we walked next door, to Red Lobster, for immediate seating.
We ordered drinks and started looking at the menu. Because the tab of one page stood up above the others, I turned to it. It was the daily specials!
The Thursday special was the "4-Course Feast, on page 18, for $15.99". Turned to page 18--no page 18.
I buttonholed our server and asked if page 18 was missing because the special wasn't available or if page 18 was just missing. He said page 18 was just missing. Everyone else at the table confirmed that they had a page 18.
When our server brought me a menu with page 18, I told everyone that, as a matter of fact, I saw a 4-Course feast that I liked, and was going to order. So, everyone else looked at it and agreed that they all saw something they liked. (I think that our 3 neighbors were just trying to save me a couple bucks by ordering the special.)
When our server returned, I jokingly said, "Ha! You thought you could hide the special, but now that I've seen page 18, I'm going to have that 4-Course Feast."
So, we all ordered the special. Drinks ran out,but the server was nowhere in sight. Someone serving another table, stopped by to ask what we were drinking, and brought refills.
The meal: small soup, small salad, and small main course were all tasty, but small, and, again, empty drinks went unfilled.
The standard dessert, brownie a la mode, was brought, and the server gone, before we realized that he had brought no spoons--all the other silverware had been cleared--and no drink refills. After several minutes of craning necks, we were able to flag down another server for spoons. Still no drink refills.
When the bill arrived, I noticed that we got the regular price, not the daily special price. When the server returned, I asked about that. He said, "Oh, the daily special is only available before 6:00. It says so on the menu."
OK, I missed that. Our guests apologized for having, also, missed it. But this is the same guy who, when I asked if page 18 was missing because the special was not available, said that, no, the page was just missing.
Bottom line: food tastes great, service is extremely poor (even though the place was not busy), and the 4-Course Feast is not a feast . . . and vastly...
Read moreI haven’t been to Red Lobster in over a decade but it was suggested to me to give it a try. Went in on early Sunday evening with my mother and daughter. Starting with the good. The staff was so friendly. We were immediately greeted by a lovely young lady that showed us to a booth. The front of the restaurant was super clean, the cleanest I ever remember it being. Two young men came by and wiped down the furniture and asked us how everything was and though we hadn’t eaten yet or gotten any biscuits we told them we were good. As for the bad, it took a while for the actual food to come out and the quality of the meal was lacking. I ordered the admiral’s feast with an extra lobster tail and baked potato to share with my daughter. For an extra $20 for a lobster tail, it was the smallest one I’m sure they had in the cooler and it was slightly overcooked and chewy. The actual admiral’s feast, the fried shrimp and shrimp scampi were delicious, the baked potato was room temperature, the broccoli had an odd flavor, and the crab legs were too few to be of note. As we ate the young lady, while very nice, never came back to the table during the meal to ask if we wanted more to drink, which we did. As for the ugly. That bathroom was awful. The floor was wet and not just mopped wet, it was as though someone had dumped water on floor. It smelled retched and due to how warm it was in there, the smell was probably 10x worse. I only went into the first stall but later my mom who is handicapped went in to use the bathroom and said it was so much water on the floor in the handicapped stall she had to use a regular one and only one of the stalls had a working lock. I went back in to wash my hands after our meal and sure enough there was a murky pool of water on the floor in that stall. I told a young g lady that worked there and it sounded like she said the toilet was broken in there and I suggested the restaurant block the stall off for obvious reasons. Not sure if that suggestion was taken into consideration but we left shortly afterwards. Our check was $116, $15 of which was for drinks of which only one of us got a refill. I wish we had a better overall experience here but I just can’t say that. The staff was pretty good and other than the few hiccups, I’d give the employees a 97 out of 100. The food a 3 out of 10. The front of house a 10 out of 10 and that bathroom a...
Read moreWe had reservations for Saturday, July 19th at 11:30 AM, planning to arrive at 5 PM to celebrate my mother's 86th birthday. When we got there, the restaurant was almost empty, yet we still had to wait. We told the waitress it was my mother's birthday, but she barely reacted, just saying, "Oh, really cool." We ordered about $700 worth of food, but while our drinks came, the food never did. By 6:30 PM, we had been waiting for an hour and a half without any food, and no one checked on us for almost 40 minutes. We got some drink refills but were never offered more biscuits or given an apology for the long wait. In another part of the restaurant, people who arrived after us were already eating and leaving. We hadn't received a single plate. After staring at the manager, he finally came over and asked if everything was okay. I told him we had been sitting for an hour without food. He just said they were working on it and that it would be out soon, with a weak apology. The waitress also seemed uninterested. By 6:20 PM, I was fed up. I went to the manager again, and he gave me a blank look, saying they were doing their best and that their food takes longer for big parties. He said it would be another 10 to 15 minutes. I asked why they took reservations for 11 people if they couldn't handle it. When I asked if he would do anything to fix this, he said they were already working on it and looked at me defiantly. I agreed to wait the extra 10 minutes, but of course, the food didn't arrive. We canceled the order and had to pay for the drinks, even though we wasted our time from 5 PM to 6:40 PM with no service. Manager Jacob didn't apologize or seem to care about our bad experience. His lack of concern was clear. When I asked about the other manager, he said she was helping in the kitchen because they were short-staffed. This place is going downhill with such poor management and service.
We will never go to this location and probably never to a red lobster ever again. Our evening was ruined. The worst experience.
Note: The other manager the female (did not get her name) was very nice and really...
