Despite the name, Osaka Grill isn’t a Japanese restaurant—so don’t be surprised when you walk in and realize it’s actually serving Chinese cuisine with some Japanese-inspired touches. Once you know what to expect, there are definitely a few highlights worth mentioning… and a few things that could use serious attention.
I usually go for the dinner options, which offer a broader selection than lunch. One dish I find myself going back for is the seafood soup. It’s got a nice spicy kick, the veggies are fresh and crunchy, and there’s always a solid amount of shrimp in every bowl. That soup never disappoints.
The clams are another standout—well-seasoned and flavorful. I also enjoy the salt and pepper shrimp: crispy, light, and packed with flavor without being too salty or greasy.
Now, the soft shell crab and barbecue pork ribs? They’re a bit of a gamble. Some days, the crab comes out flavorful and well-fried—other days, it’s bland and underwhelming. The ribs have a similar story: occasionally delicious, but sometimes overly salty. When they get it right, it’s great—but consistency is definitely lacking.
My biggest issue—and one that really affects the overall experience—is the cleanliness of the dishware. On several visits, the soup bowls and cups have felt sticky, almost as if there’s leftover soap or residue on them. That’s not something you should have to ask to be corrected mid-meal, but I’ve had to request clean replacements more than once.
Another area that falls flat is the sushi. While it’s on the menu, it doesn’t live up to the quality of the other dishes. It’s one of those “you can skip this” items—not terrible, but not fresh or flavorful enough to be worth ordering.
Osaka Grill has its strong points, especially if you know what to order. The seafood soup, clams, and salt and pepper shrimp can absolutely hit the spot. But don’t expect a fully authentic Japanese dining experience—and definitely check your dishes before digging in.
With some consistency in flavor and better attention to cleanliness, this place could go from “decent” to genuinely enjoyable. Until then, it’s a hit-or-miss spot with a few gems buried...
Read moreHorrible customer service!! For my party of four we had two separate checks, mine was left on the table and my friend had put hers away. The waitress comes by to refill drinks and starts harassing us about the second tab which we explain, if it’s an issue we can go get the manager he knows we paid. In the mean time she’s called another waitress over and they’re very rudely discussing us in their language, pointing fingers certain gestures, examining the one receipt and peering back at us etc We have tons of plates on the table. while my friend is looking for her receipt, my son (6) has politely asked her numerous times to take his plate that still has food on it, she ignores him. My friend finds her receipt and shows her and I ask yet again now that that settled can you take his plate. She points at the sign that says “love food not waste” and reads it to him and says “why you no eat your food!” And walks away without taking his plate. Totally ruined our appetites we were ready to go and talk to the manager. As we’re leaving soy sauce got spilled on the table, the manager had not the slight interest in our complaints, he didn’t listen and was more concerned about soy sauce being on the table. We left to 5 waitresses and a manger discussing us and laughing at us in their language. As we were leaving a lady overheard our conversations and chimes in and said that’s exactly why I don’t go there! They are very rude to people.
Also the food is JUST ok, there was hair in the orange slices which may not necessarily be their fault but the floors are always filthy, none of the salt shakers work because they just walk around wiping them all off with wet unsanitary wash cloths so it’s dirty salt clogged in all of them, half of the plates were dirty. Half of the food is old, under cooked, nasty or obviously cheap and artificial. There was NOOO ice cream, there’s 8 deep tubs that they obviously use for days and just let any and everybody reach their arm into, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. I ate there hours ago and my stomach is all...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting. This place was completely dirty [Image Included] and the service was so bad. Food was all over the ground and the workers wiped everything on the floor and left it there. Walls were completely sticky and stained. [Image Included] The host took money out of my hands and there was a sign which said, "please wait to be seated" but then we were angrily pointed to a location to seat ourselves. We waited for 30+ minutes for just a guy to come take our plates and for a refill. Some guy just vomited infront of the location right when he left the restaurant as I am writing this review. [Was going to put picture and blur face but I didn't want to disgust everyone just reading the review.] I love Chinese food but this place just ruined it for me. I downloaded bell and gong apps to get attention for service (which was funny because the apps had a better review). I had to raise my hand like at school for a guy to come and just refill our drinks. As I walked by twice, the staff was sitting by the reception desk laughing and hanging out. I had a stomach ache for 30 minutes after barely eating anything. Had to wait it out before driving or it will drive me insane. Food was completely terrible. The food tasted like it has been frozen previously. Sushi tasted so fake (especially the salmon). Please do not come here. A friend recommended this place, as we got here it was completely run down from what he remembered it as. He even apologised for recommending the place but he used to come here alot. DO NOT COME HERE! I DIDN'T TRUST REVIEWS AND I REGRET IT.... Hope...
