Had the pleasure of visiting Tailgaters. Although apparently Monday nights are their slow evening, there was a first - time cornhole "bags" tournament going on so that was a decent crowd. First let me say if you're into sports, it's the place to go because there are TVs everywhere, surrounding you on the walls. there's a very nice stage where they have live music at times and there are certainly plenty of tables and seating.
we decided to try a few appetizers and have a few cocktails. My companion had the frozen strawberry margarita Which was delicious.. We ordered Tex-Mex eggrolls, wings, and potato skins. The potato skins came loaded, and we liked the fact that the skins were cut down the middle so they were much easier to handle food. They were served with sour cream, and if you like your loaded potato skins, these ones fit the bill. The TexMex egg rolls were what you would expect served with a barbecue ranch. in the wings department, we ordered half teriyaki and the other half hot barbecue. I am not a fan of spicy, but was told by my guest that they were flavorful and had quite a little kick. Opted for the teriyaki and although I am not typically a big wings fan, they were delicious. They were crunchy, the teriyaki was not overwhelming, and the chicken itself was moist and tender. We ordered a side of ranch and blue cheese, ended up with only the ranch, but they were delicious. Enough so to turn me into a wings fan and I can't wait to go back and try another flavor. John, the manager and bartender, is both friendly, humorous, attentive, and worked to the back of the bar like a pro. Laron, another manager, although involved in the bags tournament, still found time to talk with people, both regulars And the players in the tournament, and he is whats restaurant or bar manager should be. He was outgoing, chatty, humorous, and I'm guessing a ton of fun to be around.
I am not a Bolingbrook resident, but I definitely would take a trip back to tailgaters to try more flavors of wings, more appetizers, and this hopefully next time actually get an entree. If I were a Bolingbrook resident, this would absolutely be a regular...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe went here with a group of 8 people for a brunch event they held recently. We bought a table and for the price of the brunch event we got unlimited mimosas. Having been to brunch in other places before I came ready to EAT! I starved myself in the morning knowing I was going to eat brunch and have a good time! I don't think management organized it well that day, it was a packed house full of people. The staff coming around filling up people's mimosas was pretty good, however waiting for a "server" to come was quite annoying. We asked the guy who filled our drinks for help ordering food and he said let me go check, and management told him no he can't take food orders. As I am looking around other "small tables" got food and our table of 8 people had no attention... we were thinking what's going on? How come any servers checked our table? Now it's 2 hours later and our group is just upset, we literally wanted to order out because these people are not organized for this busy event. We came HUNGRY. We just started asking random "servers" around and complained. Sometimes your voice has to be heard. The guy who talked to us seemed a Lil rude but dude, do you understand we are drinking unlimited mimosas? Food is important to soak up all that liquor. Do a better job Tailgaters. We shouldn't have to order food at 2:30pm for a "brunch". Yall messed up for that. If your going to do brunch, make sure to eat something before coming here because these people will starve you. First experience there and was left with a bad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave been here a few times recently, and enjoyed them each time. For me, this is a local place. I live only 15 minutes away. Each time I went to get dinner and see a band or two perform.
The food is surprisingly good, and the prices are quite reasonable. The place is clean and well appointed. Stage, lights and sounds are quite good. PA system is VERY, VERY loud. Bring ear plugs. You've been warned.
EDIT: I was here about a month ago, too see the Hi-Infidelity band. When I called to see what time the band was going on they said 8pm. If I get there for dinner, before 6:30pm, there would be no cover charge. Since I was with a group of 6 people we all got there just before 6:30. The collector at the door told us all that we needed to pay the $15 per person cover charge anyway, and that they started collecting for cover at 6:15pm. They would not listen when I mentioned that THEY TOLD ME 6:30 was cutoff. We all paid, begrudgingly.
Talking to our waitress, she said she didn't get all the tip money we were leaving for her. She said the money is all collected and distributed amongst all the other employees as well. I understand if there were busboys, but their aren't. The wait staff did it all. Our waitress was great, but hearing about the tip situation plus the scam about cover charges at the beginning of the night left a sour taste in my mouth.
I might still go there, but I'll think twice about it. Kinda sad. It seemed like a bait and...
