Cabrera's Pizza — Restaurant in Bon Air

I I recently decided to try Cabrera’s for delivery, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered directly from the restaurant’s website rather than through a delivery service, and that choice regrettably led to multiple issues.

I placed my order at 6:18 PM and received a text confirming it was being prepared with an estimated delivery window of 6:53–7:03 PM. At 6:39 PM, I received another text stating my order was out for delivery. However, by 7:05 PM, my order had still not arrived, so I called the restaurant to inquire. The woman who answered initially said, "Oh, it just left," and when I questioned why I had received a text indicating otherwise, she apologized and repeated, "Oh, my mistake. It did leave."

I did not receive my order until 8:00 PM. The delivery person never came up to my floor, and when she finally called, she claimed she couldn’t park—despite available space directly in front of my building. I had tipped generously when placing the order.

When I finally retrieved the food, the quality was UNACCEPTABLE. The CHICKEN was HARD and TOUGH, clearly NOT FRESH, and it appeared that reheating it with cheese in the oven had been used as a fix. Overall, the meal was far below the standard I expected.

I won't say it's the best I've ever had like some. Good at its price point. Crust was thin and even throughout both pizzas. Cooked good too, Not half burnt. We had a half mushroom, half banana pepper and a whole cheese. We liked the pizza. The banana peppers were HOT! I grew banana peppers and jarred them a couple years ago. I added a few slices of my jalapeños I also grew to the jars. They were scorching hot. This is what I thought of when I ate these. These will melt the snot right out of your nose. I like spicy but this was a bit much for me even. We also got the fried mushrooms. Not the stuffed kind, just fried, breaded mushrooms. FANTASTIC! The marinara they served them with was ok. A bit bland for my liking but went ok with the mushrooms. Reminded me of tomatoe soup. The wings we got were....ok. there was absolutely no crispness to them. We did get them to go and I know getting them home crispy is near impossible. But they shouldn't have been like wet bread. They were definitely cooked through. Just not crispy. So we were visiting some family in Virginia in September, and we usually pick restaurants that we don’t have back home. Based on reviews, I said let’s try this restaurant. I ordered some wings for an appetizer which were ok. It probably was the best thing that was served in my opinion. I ordered the Chicken Marsala which was recommended by the server. It was not good or tasty. My nephews that usually can smash a medium or large pizza said they didn’t like it. My niece ordered pasta with red sauce and it was not good either. I had to taste what they ordered because I hate to waste food. They were right. It was not good. Something was different and tasted funny about the red sauce they used.
