Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom — Restaurant in Bonaire

We have been waiting for this place to open for a little while now and the waiting over.

This a super venue with a big open feeling. There is an outdoor patio area that can be sealed off by a garage door in inclement or cold weather. Nice touch.

They have a nice beer, wine and “cocktail” selection on tap. You receive wrist bands that allow you access to pour as little or as much of a beverage you want… so if you want to try something without going all in, it’s a great option. They charge by the ounce and a little display tells you how much beverage you have poured in your glass. They have different sized glasses and even a beer flight board you can assemble yourself.

My wife and I shared the Bee Keeper pizza. It was actually pretty good. In full disclosure, we are pizza snobs. After living in Chicagoland for most of our lives we were spoiled by the best pizza in the US. Needless to say we were pretty skeptical but ended up pleasantly surprised by the pizza. I wish it would have been cooked a little more, but we will ask for that next time. Can’t wait to try some of the other types of pizzas.

This is a place I would absolutely go with our friends to hang out. The had several football games on tv. Wish the owners much luck...

Got a pepperoni and a porky pine pizza. Pizzas were cooked excellent had a nice char to crust and tasted great. Entire staff was very nice and were being as quick as possible getting out orders. Prices are decent about on par with other pizza joints. I didn't partake but if your into craft beers or wine. They have a good selection on tap. My only complaint is. Need to be more consistent with making pizzas. Pepperoni was a nice 10 inch with good toppings, the porky pine, was kinda odd shaped but fluffier from not spreading out dough correctly and had minimal but good tasting toppings.

Also download their app and start earning points for free stuff. I already got enough for a cheese pizza.

They have a good amount of indoor seating and a small section of semi enclosed seating, this will be nice on semi cool evenings.

I’ve been waiting for this place to open up. FINALLY!! I was wondering how it would be being brand new. Usually takes awhile for a new place to gel. My first pizza did take a little long to come out, but not ridiculously so. They’re new and were busy with to-go orders. I’m glad I tried it so soon after the grand opening.

The pizza is delicious… I had to order another. Only one size (10”), so don’t expect to get a family size pizza. Everyone gets their own. You can choose one of their signature pizzas or make your own.

Their alcohol model is genius!! Serve yourself and by the ounce. Don’t want a whole beer, cocktail, or wine? No problem.. just pour less or top yourself off. You have the control.
