The worst worst experience we can have. The people are the most horrible I have encountered. Google doesn't allow a negative rating else these people don't deserve the one star also.
To start with the food was dry (Kashmir pillaw). The nuts were rawly sprinkled on top (It wasn't even sauted) and the rice was absolutely dry like it was kept in the open for a long time. It had to be leftover rice. Had to send it back again to saute it. They brought it back with oil dripping and even after sauteing, the rice was in clumps. We couldn't eat it.
We ordered 2 garlic naans, which took ten minutes for them to bring and it was burnt. We were getting the burnt smell and the burnt areas were just falling off when touched. When we showed it to the person, his reply: "what's wrong with this naan? This is good only. Nothing wrong." Still after insisting he took it back and brought "New" naan in less than 2 minutes. Wow! They were almost the same to the first one, only with the burnt areas torn off.
They charge $16 each for a sloppy quantity of karahi paneer and navratan korma. The taste was the only saving grace of our entire experience. It was just normal! But the quantity was a pity. It was hardly enough for a person.
The check was a hand written one (attached the pic) and they had calculated everything by themselves. We were a group of 4 with a child. When we asked what was the additional tax they had added, they got irate and said "it's state law to charge for tips for 4 people ". They had charged 18% gratitude for providing a grumpy attitude and below average quality food!
When we bought up the food quality, here are the replies that we got from the two of them: "I have been doing this for 18 years, you come and tell me that my food is not good. All Americans eat my food without any comments. Why you?" "We cannot do anything about it. Your feedback is not going to do anything to us" "You want a sorry. Here, sorry"!!!
Americans do not know how Indian food has to be, just like We Indians do not know how a perfect American dish has to be. I really felt that it was discriminating. We were shocked at their attitude and how insensitive they were to people especially being in the hospitality industry. Reckless!
Avoid it any cost. You can starve than to eat at such a place. And why did we eat here? We were traveling from Florida to Missouri and were ravenous. For dinner this was the nearest and had good reviews on Google (I wonder how?)
The attitude they showed was the last straw. Very callous and arrogant! In Hindu culture, the person who serves food is equal to God. Guess they took it literally in the wrong way though! I don't usually demand when it comes to food. But these people made me write...
Read moreWe arrived at this restaurant at about 8.50pm and were seated by a gentleman called Ghandi, who we later found out to be the owner's brother.
Our order was taken for food and drinks. We ordered the dinner for two, which includes a soup, fried appetizer platter, two meat entrees, rice, naan, desert and tea/coffee.
The drinks and popadoms came out quickly and was soon followed by our appetizer - at this point everything was OK, after all it was just a fried fried appetizer starter - which should be pretty hard to screw up anyway.
The restaurant only had one other table, which I found strange for 9pm on a Saturday evening! Ghandi was turning all the inbound customers away from 9.15pm saying they were closing at 9.30pm which I found amazing, considering he is supposed to be the owner's brother!
Our entrees arrived - I am from London and have spent my entire life eating Indian food. The curries were average at best - and the fried rice was mixed with different color peas - Ghandi admitted it was rice from that morning that had been reheated and you could taste that - we then asked for some plan basmati rice.
We were eating our entrees from about 9.30pm and the entire time we could hear Ghandi and his member of staff talking about wanting to go home, they were looking at their watches, asking if we wanted a box when we were still leating and even changed from their restaurant clothes to personal clothes.
I mentioned that I was unhappy with the experience, explained why and Ghandi simply said "That doesn't matter to us, as it's just a small drop on the ocean, one person complaining" - I was astounded that somebody running a restaurant could say that and I guess that this attitude towards customers may reflect the fact they have an empty restaurant on a Saturday night when all other places are busy!
I left a zero tip and we took the food away as it was such an uncomfortable atmosphere to sit in there and eat our meal. I would never return to this restaurant and can only tell you, the service is awful - especially the clock watching, flippant Ghandi and besides that you have many other restaurants you can chose from with better food. There are some newer Indian restaurants opening in Ft Myers, which I will try next time.
Very poor experience, average food and a very...
Read moreI am a customer of India Palace since 2008 April. They were located in Fort Myers. I know the previous owner Mr Bava very well. They relocated to Bonita Springs few years ago Today we placed a order through google(Storefront Door Dash). When we went to pick up the order, we were told your food is already picked by another food delivery carrier and we have to wait for him to return with the food. Even though it is not safe to consume the food which has gone out of the restaurant through an unknown food carrier, we decided to wait. We waited nearly 20 to 30 minutes. The Other food delivery carrier did not show up. We asked for refund of money. The owner(s) said to contact the number from where the food was ordered. We ordered from google order pick up and there was only restaurant number was given to call with any issues with order. The owners did not have any regrets/apologies. They kept on blaming the other driver who took our order. We left the place without food . Kindly do not order from this place. The owners are not helpful and do not care. I have decided not to visit or order food from this place. For me attitude and ethics of business owner is important. I would visit nearby Indian restaurants Aroma or Le Indya. Imagine the way they treated a...
