I donât usually leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share this experience. Iâve been a loyal customer of Sushi Thai 2 for nearly 20 years and have dined at all their Naples locations, always appreciating the excellent food and the warm, welcoming nature of Thai hospitality.
Unfortunately, my recent experiences at the Vanderbilt Beach Road location have been disappointing enough to warrant this feedback. The older gentleman who answers the phone and manages the front appears to lack basic customer service skills and would greatly benefit from training in hospitality.
As someone who frequently orders lunch from this location, I was surprised by how dismissive he always is. On one occasion, I called at 11:28 AM, and he abruptly told me to call back at 11:30, then hung up. When I called back two minutes later, he informed me the kitchen wasnât open and refused to take my order which is why he asked me to call back. It would have made more sense to jot it down and enter it once the kitchen openedâor simply not answer the phone if they weren't ready to serve customers. What if I never called back? I felt like I was inconveniencing him by placing an order.
On another occasion, I repeated my order for accuracy, and he snapped at me, saying, âDonât repeat the order, Iâll do it at the end.â I was only trying to help ensure the order was correct, but his tone made me feel like I was bothering him. I think he lacks awareness on who the customer is.
There was also a time when he asked personal questions about who I was dining with and whether that person was marriedâan entirely inappropriate conversation to have with a customer who is picking up food.
When I finally shared my concerns about these interactions, rather than listening or apologizing, he became argumentative, as if I was at fault. That kind of response is disheartening, especially in a hospitality business where customer service is everything.
The food at Sushi Thai remains excellent, and I genuinely want to continue supporting this local restaurant. However, experiences like these can drive loyal customers away. I hope the management addresses this issue before more...
Read moreWas so happy to have a Sushi Thai near our house. Have loved coming to location since it opened until today. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll from the happy hour menu, but half of it did not contain shrimp. We questioned this, only to learn that they cut 1 piece of shrimp in half for the happy hour roll. Every roll on the menu is made with the same portion, except this roll. We suggested transparency in adding verbiage to their happy hour menu that this is not technically a full roll or changing 8 non-quality pieces to 4 quality pieces. We received a snappy response "maybe they should just remove this and their Mexican roll from happy hour", which we agreed if that's the way they view the situation at hand. At this time, we are willing to travel to other places to get good food, proper portions, and...
Read moreWe finally decided to try Sushi Thai Too. The food was good but the staff was rushing you thru the service and did not allow you to enjoy your meal. They were eager to close and started rushing us giving us the bill while we were being served. I do not think anyone enjoys being rushed out. Staff keep coming over to remove each plate and did not leave us alone throughout the whole dinner with most of the staff circling our table but not to cater but to rush you. I will not go back here. Returning to my Sushi Thai in Airport Road who are pleasant and...
