The design was exactly what we asked for—thoughtfully crafted and picture-perfect—and the flavor was just as impressive. Moist, flavorful, and gone in minutes!

We’ve also had custom cakes made here in the past, and they always knock it out of the park. Whether it’s a birthday, celebration, or special occasion, they put so much care into every detail. Beyond custom orders, their bakery is full of fresh, made-daily donuts that are dangerously delicious. You can truly taste the difference in quality and freshness.

My husband and I were just married in Mackinac Island. He grew up near Ames and had always loved the cake from Dutch Oven Bakery. We decided that we wanted our guests to share in the delicious cakes that they make, so Courtney worked very diligently with us to figure out how we could transport a two-tiered cake plus sheet cakes all the way to Mackinac Island. She decorated the cake exactly as we requested, and helped us plan the trip to make sure the cakes would make it safely. We transported the cakes in large cooler, and they were beautiful and delicious for the wedding!! I am not usually a fan of frosting, but on these cakes it is exceptional! Dutch Oven Bakery in Boone is a must-visit for both sweet treats and a delicious lunch!

From their fluffy frosted cookies to their Dutch strips, pinwheels & almond horns that are packed with a signature almond flavor that keeps me coming back -their baked goods are legendary, but their lunch options are just as amazing!

My go-to is the chicken salad croissant sandwich—fresh, flavorful, and packed with crisp veggies. But I may have found a new favorite in the grilled chicken wrap—a perfect balance of grilled goodness and fresh ingredients.

PRO TIP: Make it a basket meal to get a cookie with your lunch (I always go for oatmeal raisin), or go for a lite lunch and pair your sandwich with one of their delicious homemade soups.
