1/30/25 -- Was craving a quick dinner for a family of four, and picked up 6 burritos (4 bean/cheese, 2 beef/cheese, + green chile) and thought we'd try Benny's again, after a long break. So disappointed. The burritos were 2/3 the length they used to be (higher in price), with barely ANY beans, and a miniscule amount of beef. All I paid for was a rolled/fried tortilla! In this instance, "WHERE'S THE BEEF/BEANS????" VERY, very disappointed and upset at myself because I really thought it'd be different after a few years. Nope. It was much worse.
4/27/2021 -- The quality and the burrito/burger sizes of the food continues to disappoint. Their hours have been cut so much and it is hard to tell when they are going to be open or not. Truly a disappointment...
12/9/2020 -- Just picked-up an order (2 deep-fried beef burritos, carne adovada burrito, and 2 tacos), and for the first time in 40+ years, I am pretty disappointed. The size of their burritos used to be the same, but now the beef are about 1/3 smaller at the same price, and the size of their tacos are also about 1/3 smaller - again, at same price. In addition, the texture of the carne, is not the same. It used to be hearty chunks, but now it seemed to be more of a softer/ground substance and few chunks, if any. Through the last few months, they are closing on weekends and earlier (5p), if even open. Perhaps it is due to the pandemic, or the current economy, or something else. I never thought such a great landmark for AWESOME food would come to an end, but our beloved Benny's just may be... :-(
2019 - I have been going to this restaurant for about 45 years. The absolute best double-meat, green--chile-cheese-guacamole burger ever! Their carne-adovada burritos are simply delicious with a little heat - but may be too hot for some. Their deep-fried burritos and taco-salads are delicious, too! We've NEVER been disappointed, and get take-out at least 3-4 x/month, and have been doing such over the last 40+ years! ย ย ย Read moreCalled to place a pick-up order for breakfast at 10:20, they stop at 10:30, however I was placed on hold for 9mins, the employee got back on the phone at 10:29 and said what can I get for you, I said a breakfast burrito, she said we are done at 10:30... Ok then, lost my business and I live in Bosque Farms. Going to be giving all my business to Lota Burger. Bad customer service equals bad business, loss of customers, and will eventually close like Los Lunas Benny's.
Reply to owner: Welp your employee didn't do what was instructed of them... so, that's my fault?.. also, I did call, otherwise how would I know I got refused service at an earlier time than stated on your business breakfast hours; so, now my fault and I'm a liar?.. real classy.
Fyi... A good business owner would know, if a holiday weekend is coming up and going to be open, then don't reduce your times and confuse customers; if anything, increase your time if expecting to be busy, that's the food service industry... or just be closed; but, never adjust your times back to benefit by a decrease in business. That communication may help your staff but not the customer, if we don't know. A better answer would've been, "sorry for the hold, we ended breakfast today at 10:15, let me check if they can still make it, as it's normally 10:30 and not that time yet and you were on hold waiting to place your order". -...
ย ย ย Read more--TERRIBLE COSTOMER SERVICE-- So I live fairly close to benny's, my family loves benny's but there seems to be a recurring theme of calling in an order and them not putting in the order correctly on there end. Then you arrive and pay and they tie the bags shut so its harder to check if the order is correct, so you don't always check. You get home with your order and something is missing. I would argue that responsibility lies with them. You check the receipt and something you KNOW you've said over the phone because 9/10 you order the same exact order every time. So you get back in your car, drive all the way back and I would think out of kindness they would just give you what you're missing....(1 grilled cheese). You're already bugged they didn't get the order right and the ordeal it's become, You'd think they'd give it to you .. But no, they still make you pay for something as simple as 1 grilled cheese. Which probably only cost them 5 cents to make. I think the best businesses operate with this ideal "the costomers always right" especially on small issues like this so they don't alienate long time costomers. I've been getting benny's for years and years and their workers aren't all that freindly either.
