Ali's Roti Restaurant — Restaurant in Boston

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the service I received today. When I go there, the staff is usually friendly. Today, I went in to get two rotis. When I asked for the woman to add potatoes, she told me “only three items” I asked “if I could pay extra for it”, she said “yes” but seemed extremely irritated. I then told her “Nevermind, it’s fine as is”. After making my food, I then had to wait 5 minutes to pay for my food. I had somewhere to be and I was in a rush. Waiting a few secs to pay is fine, but my wait to pay for the food took longer than it took for them to make two rotis!!!! I literally had to ask “can I pay for my food?!” The mean one who made my food says “she’s coming, hold on. Calm down!” Mind you, I was extremely calm. I am actually not even a rowdy person! The woman who cashed me out took her sweet time adding salt to a big bucket of flour. The mean one mumbled something to her…. Not cool at all. I was tempted to just walk out, not pay and leave the food there! YOU DO NOT TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THAT WHO GIVE YOU BUSINESS! Especially pleasant customers. I don’t know WHAT the issue was today, but it was enough for me to never return to or support this business EVER AGAIN. Please get your customer service in order, we help keep your business thriving! Let me first say, Ali's food is great, which is why I continue to go there. However, when I do go, they always are out of one of the main staples of their restaurant, curry chicken.

This most recent visit, I called ahead to see if I could order 3 Roti's but they were out of potatoes. The woman said they should have them by the time I get there. She confirmed there is curry chicken. Still she wouldnt let me place my order over the phone. When I get there 9 minutes later, they have the potatoes but now they are out of curry chicken! There are about 6 of us standing off to the side waiting for chicken. Oh, they were also out of curry goat which would have been my alternative.

Finally, I get my food and what should have been a 20 minute food run turned into a 45 minute ordeal. And this was 1 1/2 before they close, at the height of dinner rush. And this is my experience with them EVERY....

Delicious veggie roti!

I visited one night while I was in town for work. It was about 30 minutes before closing time and upon trying to pay for my food my card wouldn't work. After running it twice, the gentleman said "Oh, this is an American Express. We don't accept Amex." I asked them to hold on while I went to look for cash in my car, which as it turns out I did not have. I went back in to let them know that by time I would get back to my hotel (which was 20 minutes away) to get another payment method it would be nearly closing time. I told them I was sorry that they would end up having to toss the food and then they told me not to worry, just take it. They said it was on the house! That was so incredibly kind, they didn't have to give it to me but they did. I was very appreciative.

If I ever find myself back in Boston, I would definitely come back here and also pay...
