Charleys Cheesesteaks — Restaurant in Boston

I visit Boston every year for my medical needs at BCH & Mass Gen/Brigham. I’ve been in the Longwood Galleria many times, I’ve been coming to Boston for 20+ years.

Believe it or not, I’ve NEVER tried a Cheesesteak in my life. Being from Chicago, we don’t have Cheesesteaks. Here, it’s about the Italian Beef Sandwich. Two VERY different, yet delicious sandwiches.

After a long medical day, I strolled into the Longwood Galleria to scout out dinner to take back to my hotel room. The Longwood Galleria is basically a giant food court. The first place that caught my eye was Charley’s.

I figured there is no better time than now to try the cheese steaks! I ordered Charley’s Original & Classic Steak Philly Cheesesteak.

I also added an order of Charley’s “Ultimate Fries”. Their hand-cut fries are freshly fried and topped with cheese sauce, ranch, and bacon crumbles. They’re so good you’ll refuse to share! Be sure anyone with you gets their own order!

The bread was delicious and soft. The steak inside was cooked perfectly. It was tender, delicious, and seasoned perfectly. No chewy/fatty/gristly pieces- which is what my worry was.

It was so good I ordered them in for delivery again a few days later to my hotel. The food portion for the money is outstanding. Everything is hot, fresh, accurate, & packaged properly. Delivery is fast and hot.

As a Chicagoan, I have to say the Italian Beef is still King. However, the cheese steak did...

This was the most disgusting experience I’ve ever seen. The guy that was making my sandwich, (Luis) Was handling the food very roughly, throwing the meat, veggies at a distance on the grill. He had gloves on, but he was rubbing his nose with his glove, grabbing the RAW, touching equipment with the same glove. With the same glove he grab the bread to put the cooked meat on it. While he was putting the lettuce & tomato on my sandwich he was docking down suspiciously which I have never seen this be done. I’m seeing all this behavior & I’m just like why isn’t the manger or other workers here saying anything to this person? Why is he being allowed to handle Customer food like this? I was infuriated! And didn’t have the energy to start arguing with the guy. I had to get back to work and did not want to get out of character do $11. I was on a 30min break had a long day I just wanted to get something to eat for lunch . I took my sandwich & left, then threw it in the trash. I wasted my money! I wasted my lunch break! It was ridiculous for a grown adult whose at work handling people food act like this. This is a fair warning for people to keep an eye on who’s cooking your food! FOOD POISONING...

I work at the hospital, and I came there for breakfast. The opener looked at me and ignored me as he continued prepping; they had been open for hours, and the opener just kept on cooking bacon for about 5 minutes with not so much as a hello and purposely not looking back up at me. Ended up going to the neighboring McD's spot. Awful customer service.

Edit. The manager/owner posted below to send them an email. I did so both here and on their actual website, and received no response. This was simply an attempt to look like they cared about...
