As a Jamaican, I was beyond disappointed. I don’t even like to go out of my way to take time leaving reviews, but i just had to in this situation. To keep it brief, the workers were the rudest people in the service industry i’ve ever dealt with. The attitude was extremely disgusting, and the cook even sang a song mocking me as he prepared the food. And it wasn’t justifiable. I was the nicest person when i walked through that door. He sang that i could make up my mind because i couldn’t decide what i wanted for 30 seconds since they had no cabbage or oxtail, after they refused to provide a menu. But then being rude was not the problem, because as long as my food is good, I don’t care. But the food was awful. I immediately went to Flames and ordered the same thing because I could not take the disgusting ā€œcurryā€. The picture i put in this review is a side by side of the same order from Island Style and Flames. Anyone who truly loves island food can tell which one they would rather. Never in my life will they get my money again. GO TO FLAMES PLEASE! save your money.

They don’t do call in orders! The space is so small but they ask for 6 ft apart. I don’t get how that’s even possible in there. I ordered 5-6 plates and it took 1 hour to make the order and get it prepped in bags. Im not joking it literally took the servers and register clerks 1 hour to make my order and finish packing it up Im pretty sure when I go home and see all the plates they forgot something. They need to do better. Atleast take over the phone orders with debit card/ credit card so people that have a job and lives to get to can make it in time for lunch. Also the clerk rang me up wrong. The people work very slow service.

First time walking in here to order curry chicken, white rice and veggies. They were out of veggies. So I was going to settle just for the curry and white rice, then I noticed the ox tail, so I changed my mind to white rice and ox tail, she states we ran out of white rice. Mind you it's only 2PM on a Thursday. So she tried to serve me kidney beans with rice and stew, I told her it's okay, just give me the coco bread beef patty, she goes "no meal?"....in my head I'm like a meal is actually something I want to spend my money on, not what you want me to spend on because this restaurant lacked services bad. While they are talking in the back, laughing a storm, customer, just waiting. And no food being prepped and cooked on time. Reason why Restaurants, in Dorchester, Roxbury, Roslindale and Mattapan don't prosper. Lack of customer service and laziness. And my beef patty was dry and steal because they microwaved. And my dumplin hard and had to trash it too. They just be leaving it sitting there. $3 for two small dry dumplings. Spoke to my Jamaican chef, he said best place to eat, that I should've called him first is, Blue Mountain. I'm...

Bad service, bad food, totally bad attitudes. I will not go here again. The jerk chicken I got was disgusting! A total disappointment. They had a nerve to have a smoker inside the establishment. The jerk chicken that I got was definitely not done in that smoker. My meal was a great disappointment. Beware when going to this establishment, most not all of the employees have bad attitudes, It didn't matter if there's a line of people or not, the place can be empty, you get eyes rolling and yelled at especially when you request certain items or want specific things that they may or may not have. I'm all set. I'd rather go to the original only one Jamaican restaurant or even flames for that matter! Flames could be hit or miss too, but at least you get what you want without an...
