My sister took me to Sunnyside All Day Brunch Café in Boston for an early birthday brunch, and I was excited to try it as I'd heard from a few other girls that it was really good!

They have outdoor seating, but since it was already pretty warm out (and I sweat ), we chose to sit inside. The place is super cute and decorative, with fun touches like a table full of games and a Rubik's cube inspired wall design.

I started with a hot coffee, and the menu had a ton of options. I don't usually go for pancakes, so I was happy to see French toast and waffles on the menu too. I went back and forth between the cookie dough French toast and the chicken & waffles, even though I wasn't totally sold on the maple barbecue syrup it came with. Still, I took the risk and ordered it!

We also got the Million Dollar Bacon appetizer because it looked cool when other people would order it. It ended up being one of my favorite things. Sweet, crispy, and just really delicious.

My sister ordered the Cookie Dough French Toast, which looked amazing and it tasted amazing (she let me try it). We both got mimosa flights which contained four different flavors, but honestly, they all kind of tasted the same since the champagne overpowered the mixers, not necessarily a bad thing, just something to know.

My chicken was crispy, juicy, and tender so so so good! As I guessed, the maple BBQ syrup combo wasn't my favorite, and since it's already poured on the plate, it was hard to avoid. But I still ate most of it and enjoyed it overall.

Our server Carlos was super attentive, and we never felt rushed, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable.

I was treated to a sweet cotton candy ice cream dessert with a candle for my birthday. It was so sweet and appreciated!

Definitely a great brunch spot, I'd come back to try something...

The hostess ruined our experience there. She setup a table for 4, to a 5, making it too small for our party. When we requested an actual table that would fit us, she said the larger table was already reserved (fyi it was never filled during our time there). Understandable. We then asked if she could join two of the smaller tables together (because one side would be bench it wouldve given us tulhe space). Keep in mind most of the indoor resaurant was open. She said she couldnt do that because she would be giving up two tops in case someone wanted indoor seating. To note, we had reservations for 5. By that logic, it should be first come first serve and if they were going to deny us, shouldn't they deny those coming in after? She said our only option was to seat us outside. Now it makes no sense because she could have easily and by her logic, seated anyone that came after us, outside as well. As we left, only one table was occupied inside where they could have had them seated elsewhere. Now...the reason why we have issues is because they joined two tables for 5, the same way we had asked, for a group of white men. Being East Asian, we could feel the negative energy immediately when we had requested an appropriate table that would have accomodated our group better. Then to our server, she wasnt rude but it was just a lukewarm feeling. From not wanting to reach and have our party hand her things or pass down items was not ideal. She was curt, serious, and the only time she wanted to be nice was when she gave us the check. For food...our benedict eggs were fried....like why? Overall, the hostess just set the tone towards a...

10’s across the board!

The best pancakes any of us have ever had. We tried so many things on the menu over our 4 day in a row visits. Classic pancakes, fruity pebble pancakes, red velvet, banana French toast, omelette, fruit bowl, kids meal!

I have a peanut tree nut allergy. I was nervous but when I didn’t see anything labeled with nuts on the menu I asked our server would it be safe to have French toast, she spoke with her manager and chef and the manager came to tell me while they were unsure about any cross contamination with French toast they knew pancakes would be safe for me. My allergy order arrived separate from the group meals and they came to the table specifying nut allergy no cross contamination. Made me so comfortable, enough so to eat them 4 days in a row. Beyond grateful. Thank you guys!

It’s completely child friendly, with toys, coloring supplies and fidget items to keep kids enjoying their experience.

Indoor and outdoor seating. A cute, sweet staff. Overall a great vibe.

Free parking in garage above restaurant, be prepared to take stairs both ways!

While the weekdays were easy to get a table, we arrived on weekend to an 1.5 hour wait because of brunch but was able to get in after speaking to the manager after our frequent visits to be squeezed in sooner. So make reservations for...

Sunnyside Cafe is a great spot with mostly delicious offerings. The avocado toast was light and tasty, definitely a standout. The French toast, however, was a bit inconsistent, with some pieces being undercooked, which was disappointing. The orange juice was labeled as fresh on the menu, but it wasn’t freshly squeezed—it tasted more like store-bought or “freshly bought,” so I’m not sure why it was called fresh. I also found the $6+ price tag for the latte a bit high, considering it was made with a KitchenAid coffee maker. While the machine is probably high-end, I would have preferred a pulled espresso shot for that price. On the bright side, the service was excellent—everyone was friendly and attentive. Overall, I had a good experience and will likely return, but there are a few areas that could be improved for a more consistent experience.
