While the food was good, service was poor (took a long time before anyone came to check in with us and we had to ask 3 times to get more water). When our food came out, there was a side of pancakes placed on our table. A minute and a half to two minutes later, someone came and took the pancakes off our table without saying a word. When I asked our server about it, I was told they were for another table. I thought about how gross it would be for those pancakes to be taken to another table, so when our server came back, I asked again, "So, those pancakes were just taken to another table?" And the answer was "yeah". To think that I could be served food that was delivered to another table (and who knows what happens to it there) is repulsive to me. That Parkway Cafe finds this practice acceptable is horrifying.
Update: I called to try to talk to someone regarding your response. Didn't hear back. What makes you think you need to fire a "she"? There were multiple people involved, so it is a systems issue that needs to be corrected with better training for all. Not sure why one female would be fired when it wasn't the server who delivered our food and it was a male who took away the pancakes to deliver to...
Read moreI found this place disappointing.
I ordered the half biscuits and gravy and two sides (two eggs over medium and two mini waffles).
The sausage gravy was nearly tasteless in how bland it was. You could practically count the numer of black pepper flakes in it. When I added more black pepper from the shaker on the table, there wasn't a discernible difference which speaks to the age of the pepper itself. The waffles were a little doughy but serviceable. The eggs were fine.
The service was a little distant. My partner and I entered near opening time but still had to wait a good five minutes for the hostess. During service they were distant, nearly short, with us but quite social with other guests.
My partner ordered the Boulder Omlette and found the hollandaise sauce to be far too vinegary. Their stomach was upset before even finishing the meal and had to use cafe's facilities.
It's a shame due to how few places in the area don't even open before 7AM but we will likely not...
Read moreI've been coming here for years. I love so many things about this place. First off, the food is classic cafe food with many items having a Mexican/Colorado twist. When you look around, absolutely every dish looks perfect. Second, the service. Truly, you won't find better service in Boulder. The waitstaff here is top notch, friendly, efficient, helpful, and kind. Third, the Vibe! Remember when you grandparents would take you to their favorite cafe, the same one they visit once per week without fail. This is THAT place, the place where all the old folks in Boulder frequent. And mixed in among them, you find the young people too who have come to appreciate the old fashioned version of hospitality in a town which grew up and got seriously urban real quick. Also, so grateful for the affordability! This is one of the few places in Boulder where you won't have a $60 breakfast bill! Do yourself a favor and go to the Parkway. Mexican Hash Browns...
