Just yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting my hometown diner in Boun Brook. Golden Corner Diner has been in business for 30+ years and shows no signs of slowing down! Being located near a busy intersection, and a couple of blocks away from the local high school, the diner is never not busy! Parking is almost never an issue, between their parking lot and local street parking, there is a spot close to the diner, and never is a far walk. Every time I enter the diner, I am met with an atmosphere and appearance that is always clean and welcoming. Something that the staff highly focus on at this diner. They like to know your face as you are guaranteed to go back again the next day or so. Upon seeing you, they greet you with a smile and if they recognize you, jokes are exchanged ensuring that you are going to have a great meal. As I entered, I was seated immediately with a friend that I was meeting up with. Within five minutes our orders and drinks were being taken and prepared by the cooks. At 1 o'clock rush hour was just ending, but that didn't mean that there was a delay of any sorts. The staff made sure that meals were being sent out as quickly as they were ordered. Nothing was undercooked but cooked just right. After 10-15 minutes our food arrived, I had the bacon burger. Lets just say, you never leave there hungry but with a full stomach. The burger was well done, bacon crispy, and fries cooked to perfection. Everything that you could ask for. Even $28 for both meal plus drinks was a good price. Definitely looking forward to...
Read moreI started going to this place recently... I have to say the food and location are not bad compared to the other diners in the area. I always have been polite and respectful with them. But let me tell you a story... watch if you try to exchange your money for tip or ordering food by phone, can happen you'll end talking with a disrespectful kid. Long story short, today I went to have breakfast and my bill was about $14, coffee and omelette. I went to pay and I usually pay with my card and leave cash tip. I gave the owner (mid fifty or sixty lady.. idk) $20 cash asking for an exchange, she gave one $10 and two $5.. so I asked her if she could give ONES for tip. Not even the time to put the other $15 in my wallet that she took back those $5 in ones like a Superhero...I said wait!! But she didn't reopen the cash register and saying that "oh, I'm so fast" What does that mean.. I HAVE NO IDEA? I didn't want make a scene and I left. I called her after explaining the situation and she was very rude, wanted to be right, etc. etc.. I'm not giving you $5 tip on a $14 bill ma'am!!! Unbelievable. Take the $5 they...
Read moreI went to a Golden Corner diner for some breakfast this morning. Ordered French toast & 2 eggs w.homefries and white toast. A coffee. I recieved my bill and it was over $16...what! Let's do math French toast 4.25; 2 eggs with homefries and toast all come together 4.50 a coffee 1.75 plus tax roughly $11. The waitress added it all up differently, French toast with 2 eggs 7.25 side of home fries 4.95 side of toast 1.75 and a coffee 1.75 plus tax 16.05. Talk about being shady! Brought it up to attention of manager she said I needed to tell waitress to place them as separate orders. How else am I supposed to explain my order to someone who should already know. Really! it's my job now to know your way of pricing an item to not overcharge a customer. On top of all that she was "trying" to tell me I got the better deal! Paid the bill but no tip. Mind you ive been going to this diner for over 30 years. No more! You won't be seeing me there anymore. Enjoy the $5 overcharge! You should be ashamed...
