Wow, best restaurant in this area. In the area for a few days, came across this place for lunch on a Sunday. I ordered the Pasta Rosina (Sausage and broccoli rabe over penne, with some light sauce), my father and uncle both ordered the veal saltimbocca (Veal leg slice, I believe)...jeez was it good. Like I mean good. I will specifically come back here next time I am required to travel to the area. We did a hot seafood antipast for an app, GOOD. Was even better putting the squid and mussels on their delicious bread. At the end of our meal we were given some pistachio ice cream with a chocolate shell, really wish I had paid attentetion when they said the name of the dessert dish, was also absolutely delicious. Price wise, it's gonna be more than ruby tuesdays (our hotel restaurant) but this also didn't seem like frozen food, everything felt homemade. We kept saying (at first) that it smelled so good inside but it was only because we were hungry...boy did we eat those words, along with everything on our plates. Inside is nice, very clean, would be a great place for a date, tables are set nicely. Has a nice bar, plenty of televisions. Great little "Italian story" in the men's room I got a kick out of reading. If there is one thing I could suggest: Change the music type. I'm 27 years old, was the youngest person in the restaurant besides the waiter (by like 15 yrs, sorry other patrons lol) and I kept hearing Katy Perry, Drake, Gaga, etc. I'd probably put something a little different on in that context but ay what do I know! We're from Rhode Island, and if you've ever been around Federal Hill or Providence in general, you know that we know Italian food. Well, so does Mama Rosina's. Thanks for the experience, you will get my...
Read moreHorrible is the least I can say. We sit down and my friends are a bit irked about the place. The waitress, who placed our waters on the table said "excuse me" in the nastiest tone you can think of. We get the drinks and the bread. The bread was not very good. Tastes like something you would buy from ShopRite so I honestly expect more from an Italian restaurant. Then, we had to wait 20 minutes for anyone to notice we were ready to order our meal. Two of my friends in the party of nine told the manager/waiter (whatever he was) to skip him and he had a nasty attitude saying "I'll come back because I'm very busy" and the place probably wasn't even half-packed. When he's done saying that, we cancel the order and just pay for drinks. My friend's fiancee wrote on the check that he was rude (which he was) and we left. Then, as we are talking outside about what restaurant to go to next, the waiter/manager comes outside and starts yelling at us that "he does not appreciate the comment on the check, nearly causing a confrontation. Felt bad a bit because the cooks were outside after and we had to tell them what happened. I don't write reviews ever, but if you have the time to come outside and yell at us about feedback and your cooks have the time to stand outside smoking, then you have time to up to give us quality...
Read moreService was inattentive, more focus on the bar than tables. Was not a fan of the decor, cold look, not inviting. Ordered pasta bolognese and calamari appetizer. Started with salad, that was wet and not properly dried, was a wet mess. Bread was old and reheated to repurpose bread that was past its time to serve to customers. Bread lasts one day, this is an “Italian” restaurant and they should know better. It had that day old taste and texture. Calamari was pale in color and off in taste. Pasta was not bolognese, but “meat” sauce that was mediocre. They did not make it correctly, no soffritto base (onion, carrots, celery) which is a must for bolognese. No red wine. No pork or veal, just chop meat. And no milk added at end for the classic creaminess. Meal was a disappointment and definitely not bolognese. And it was pricey for...
