Melissa's restaurant — Restaurant in Bound Brook

I never leave bad reviews of any kind. However I am for this place. Yesterday 4/27/20 I ordered food late. I ordered 2 tortas (Mexican sandwich), 1 kids meal, 7 tacos, 1 fried quesadilla and 1 Horchata (Rice drink). I didn’t pick up this order. However the person who picked it up was overcharged and he gave $10 tip, like I told him to. This morning I realized I was overcharge after checking and finding out there was no change leftover. I called after I got out of work, and a young girl answered and told her my matter and she said she remembered and that it was a big order and told me an amount like $74 something. After adding everything up, the price didn’t match because once I added everything came out to $42 not including tax and I told her that. So I told her to please check again. She then told me, they will check and owner will call me back. The owner call me back and said the total amount was $74 and the I also ordered Gua and chips. So I let her know I didn’t order that and told her she can check the receipt. Owner told me the receipt was thrown in the garbage, but even the girl who picked up the phone remember a bit of what I ordered. So my big question was why is there stuff added to my bill when I did not order it, but yet I was charged so much. I told the owner I worked in the restaurant industry and tickets are not thrown away like this, due to inventory purposes. Owner said they only keep credit slips. Told her I’m 100% sure I didn’t ordered the Gua and chips and even so total wouldn't be close to $74. Owner said they will check again and I can get get free food next time I go. I told her I just want my change back. Owner said she will call back. Later I received a call, not from the owner but from the employee. This women started screaming at me with the biggest attitude possible and curse me off big time. She said things like you got something to say, say to my face you piece of s**t and she kept going. I stayed quite and told her she should not talk to a customer like this, she just hung up. I called the owner back to the number she had called me before and let her know one of her employees just called me and curse me off. Owner said yeah I was there she told you what you ordered. I told her no, she cursed me off and said really mean things. Owner said well I noticed you also orders Flautas ( fried flour small tacos). Told the owner why do you guys keep adding to my order with things I didn’t order. Owner stayed quite and then said well we don’t have the receipt and even the cook said this is what was ordered. At the end nothing was resolved. If it was five bucks difference I don’t mind. Food is good here. But there’s other even much better and honest Mexicans restaurants in the area. I will let my friends know about my experience, so they know what to expect. And if you do eat here check the total five times and please make sure you do ask for a receipt so you don’t get screw...

Ordered food here today and got the Torta Cubana. The sandwich was sliced in half already and I went on to eat the first half. I opened the second half of the sandwich to take the pepper out and behind the pepper were two bugs!!!! I called to tell them about the situation and the lady hung up on me. I called back and as soon as she heard my voice, she hung up again!! Had to drive over there to deal with the situation. Wish I could post the photos for everyone to see!

Stay away from...

Incredible tacos. They did charge me $8.36 more than they should have (they're using the wrong number to calculate taxes or something like that, I really don't think it's malicious), but I still feel like I got my money's worth and I was warned about this in reviews so I came expecting it. They really should fix this so they don't get themselves into trouble. They've got some of the best tacos in town and I'd love to go back if they can...
