I had put off visiting Bike Rack Bistro for a while because it seemed wrong to not visit by bike and since most of my riding is done in the afternoon when they are closed, I waited. I finally had a free day so my son and I hopped on our bikes, grabbed a card game and rode across town for lunch.
When we arrived we found a bike rack out front (I'm glad the name wasn't ironic) that sadly didn't appear to be used enough as we had to pull it away from the ramp a bit so the bike tires would fit.
The restaurant is in an old converted house which seemed to work nicely. The host was super nice and very patient while we looked the menu over, plus he informed us that since we biked in the beverage is on the house! We paid up front and decided to eat at a small, two person table on the front porch.
I went with the King of Clubs (minus the mayo) and fruit salad while my son chose the Henry Bain burger and pimento cheese fries. We were very happy with all our choices. Portions were just right for the price and the food was honestly better than I expected (since I ordered a standard club sandwich). The server (which surprised us since we paid upfront) never let our drinks run out.
The overall experience was outstanding, and I would highly recommend riding your bike for breakfast or lunch. Also, don't forget to tip your server, with paying upfront it's...
Read moreWe arrived at 11am and only one other customer was there. We were greeted promptly at the door at told to sit where we like. A young brunette was our waitress (sorry didn't catch her name) we placed our drink order mine fruit tea, hers sweet tea both were good teas. She had the Trail Runner burger with sweet potato fries, I had the Bistro burger with pimento cheese fries. I cant rightly describe all the flavors as they were presented but the bistro burger had raspberry preserves spread on top bun with a strip of bacon the patty was served on top of homemade pimento cheese on the bottom bun. The beef patty was clearly hand patted. She had her bean burger dressed with mayonnaise, tomato, pickle, lettuce and onion. See our photos for the presentation. All in all we had a great time the food was extraordinary delicious and we will definitely be back. Thanks so much. We highly recommend the dishes we had. The sweet potato fries were done to perfection, the pimento cheese fries were as well. Who would've thought these would make a great combination when dipped in ranch. My my. Anyway...
Read moreThis place has potential, but it is still finding it's footing. It's kinda hipster, but not quite there. The menu is too small to catch the mainstream crowd, but the food was excellent. I had the spicy pimento cheese burger with raspberry jam and sweet potato fries with a good sweet tea, and my wife had the berry laden salad and a water. All was less than $20!
It's odd... You place order at entrance and pay, so not really sure about leaving a tip. To make this place stick, it needs a more pronounced bar area, more cool bike stuff besides a couple simple paintings and bike shorts/shirts on wall (where are the cool OLD bike frames and art like the sign on the porch), a couple traditional entrees for the less adventurous, and I would play the classic bike movie "Cutters" on a loop!
Overall, we like the place and hope it fairs well. We are glad BG is finally getting a selection of...
