I was very disappointed with the $28 grilled chicken platter. The food itself was average at best, nothing memorable and certainly not worth the price. The hummus was watery and completely lacking in flavor. The Greek salad was the strongest side dish, but it was simply lettuce, a bit of cheese, and dressing, not exactly a culinary achievement, and again, not worth $28. When I first approached the counter, I asked for a menu since it was my first time there. Instead of offering any guidance, the cashier asked for my name and immediately pressed me for an order. When I repeated that I needed a menu, he reluctantly handed one over but seemed irritated that I wasn’t ready to order. I felt I was clear that I had never been there before, but that didn’t seem to register with him. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall, which can often be charming when the food is exceptional. In this case, however, the quality didn’t measure up, leaving the atmosphere feeling more like an unremarkable strip mall spot than a hidden gem. I regret spending so much for so little. I’ve never been to Greece, but I have been to Istanbul, so I know what truly great grilled chicken and hummus should taste like, and this was nowhere near it. At best, this meal should have been $15. The prices here are outrageous for what...
Read moreAlways busy, good sign I think. I've been here quite a few times when I'm visiting the parentals. If you're craving Greek food, fresh, big portions, this is essentially your big fat Greek wedding of food. I'll base this review off my visit a couple nights ago. We sat inside, as it would rather humid out on the patio. The highlight is always the plethora of pita, straight from the oven, and that tzatziki sauce that I could pretty much eat on my deathbed. If carbs scare you, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by coming here. I'm only docking a star because the hummus this time didn't have that je ne sais quoi that it had last year. Kind of just pasty chickpea glue.
I had the Moussaka. Oh heavens. Layers of too good so bad. The eggplant, so creamy! The ground meat, that blanket of potato. Creamy bechamel. This is as good as dessert for me.
From what I understand, prices have gone up a few bucks or so on all items. However, I'm not new to food, having been a chef, and with the current inflation, the prices effect the consumer, but also the restaurant. People need not to forget about that.
I have never left here lighter than a...
Read moreThe food was great but poor customer service, which surprised me based off the reviews is the reason I decided to give this place a try. My boyfriend and I walked in, we were greater by a young girl behind the counter. I told her we never been here before so she gave us menus to order off of which we did and sat down at a table. After our food was finished she brought us a bag with both our foods in to-go plates. We were confused since everyone around us had plates so we decided to just eat. Then a waitress came to us and said “for future references this is a sit in restaurant and the server comes to you.” I told her why didn’t the lady tell us that when I said we’ve never been here before. She said “oh, it’s okay.” But it’s not, we felt out of place eating out of styrofoam plates rather than them correcting the issue. We thought this place was like Slouvaki Fast, you go up to the counter to order and the food is brought to you. Definitely will continue going to...
