This particular McDonald's practices discrimination like I have never seen before. An ex-employee who happened to be an African American was called the N word by a co-worker in front of the manager, and he may have received a write-up, but I highly doubt it. The experience I just had was no better. I had purchased a coffee and was sitting at a table doing work when I was approached by an employee. He said, " We have a 30 minute dining policy here, so I am asking you to leave." To be clear, there were several tables of guests around me who had been there just as long, if not longer than me. I used the restroom, and then I asked to speak to the manager. I told her I had been asked to leave by an employee because of a "30 minute policy" and I asked if that was their policy. She said that it was, and I asked her why the other tables weren't asked to leave, and she didn't reply. I pointed a table out and told her that they had been here about 15 minutes, and that I'm going to wait outside, and if they weren't asked to leave after 30 minutes was up, then I would be filing a discrimination and harassment complaint against her in particular, and McDonald's overall. In the snottiest tone of voice she could possibly muster, she replied, "Oh, you just go right ahead." I told her I would be sharing a Google review as well and then I left. I snapped a picture outside to add to my review, and I was on a public sidewalk in front of McDonald's making sure the photo turned out because it was so bright outside, I wasn't sure it had. Lo and behold, this shining example of everything a manager shouldn't be had called the police on me! For what? I didn't curse at her, I didn't refuse to leave, and I wasn't rude in my tone (even though she was extremely rude) or my choice in words. I was a paying customer, just like every other guest still seated inside. Because I had a backpack with a laptop and work files, I think she assumed I was homeless. Regardless, even if that was the case, that is 100% no way to treat ANY paying customer, homeless, African American, or a lady with a backpack who apparently asked too many questions and challenged this manager's authority. In my experience, sometimes when people who have worked in menial jobs their entire lives, and suddenly find themselves in a position with a tiny bit of authority(we are talking about a management position at McDonald's, which is hardly rocket science), it goes straight to their heads. Either way, this woman should NOT be a manager, nor should she even be working in customer service. Clearly, she has no concept of what that term even means, let alone how someone in a leadership position should handle a guest complaint. It's sad to see this level of harassment and discrimination still occurring in public restaurants and working environments, especially during these troubling times within our country, when people should be working together and lifting each other up. Not targeting the people you perceive to be beneath you, and wiping your feet on them as if they are a dirty rug and you just discovered crap on your shoe. I expected better from McDonald's, and I know the workforce is tough right now, but surely, if you're going to scrape the bottom of the barrel for employees, then either take the time to properly train them, or stuff them towards the back and grant them "authority" over the fries basket. For those of you who have taken the time to read this far, I would encourage you to boycott this particular McDonald's until they have the opportunity to find a properly trained and qualified manager to lead those young kids working there. Would this be the type of working environment and manager you would want your teenage daughter or son exposed to? If you live in Bozeman, I would also encourage you to share this review. It's a sad fact, but most giant corporations like McDonald's won't lift a finger to do something about it until their bottom line has been affected. BTW, law enforcement officers were phenomenally kind and professional. Pro-law...
Read morea manager lied on my write-up!
i know, i’m an employee, i shouldn’t leave bad reviews. but i’m planning on getting a new job soon anyway (for more reasons than this)
here’s what happened: when i transferred to this store during the Belgrade’s remodel, i had the flu and had to go home.. after getting yelled at by a specific male manager.
The second day at wheat dr (i didn’t know yet that i had the flu), i came in to try to work. after using my employee discount for breakfast, i had more diarrhea and more throw up. i walked up to said manager, about to cry, and said, “i’m sorry, but i’m still throwing up. i can’t work today...” said manager says, “you’re going to be in drive thru.” i reply, “i can’t. i’m sick. i need to go home.” he half yells in front of multiple customers, “is this going to be a common occurrence with you? can we count on you to just not show up?”
at this point, i didn’t want to argue, so after saying “i have to go home” i left. i called out then went to the doctor the next day. sure enough, i had the flu. said manager wrote on my write-up: used employee discount, asked where she was going to be, refused position, and went home ”sick” he also checked off “no-call no-show” and “theft of money/merchandise”
here’s where it gets worse: a specific female store manager doesn’t believe my story of what happened and interrupts me to ask, “why would my co workers lie to me?” she pressured me into signing it, saying things like if i didn’t sign the write-up, i wouldn’t get paid (it’s illegal to not pay me for a dumb reason like that.), so, being the uneducated teenager i was, i signed it because i needed my paycheck...
that specific female store manaer also kicks out homeless people while they’re eating. there’s a 30 minute loitering limit... they’re only there for about 20 minutes before she would tell me to remind them... they aren’t loitering if they are...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped here for breakfast along our travels. We both raved about how cool the place looked as it’s an old-school McDonald’s. Not only did it have a great vibe, it was spectacularly clean and very well maintained. I think the best part for my husband, besides the VERY tasty food served fast and hot, was the fact that he got to place an order with a real person! We are not that old but don’t care for the typical McDonald’s having to order from the electronic kiosks. They still have the mobile app that one can use, but it was so refreshing placing a quick order with a very courteous and professional employee. My husband said he would go out of his way to go to a McDonald’s like this any day. We can definitely tell that whoever owns/manages this establishment, and the employees, work very hard to make it a very pleasant experience for their customers!!!...
