I’ve been a frequent patron of O’Bricks for many years, and have always been elated at the quality of service, food and overall experience.
After my two isolated visits this weekend, I’d have to say that sentiment is no longer.
Saturday I attended brunch after the Farmers Market, and even though Colby was polite, the food was subpar at best. The steak and chicken (both brunch items) were mediocre, chewy and even a bit fishy and we chucked it up to brunch. Despite the fact that no one else followed up, refilled waters, pre-bussed (or a manager follow up), we still had plans to return in the future.
Then Monday evening we had a reservation for four, and bless our kind server Sky who really tried, but the experience was one that might leave us never returning.
Despite the reservation, it was 40 minutes before our food orders were taken, and much of that was due to the lack of communication to ensure the food allergy needs could be met. Mind you, OBricks was methodically chosen as I knew the restaurants ability to cater to food allergies, and in an effort to ensure my mother in law could safely enjoy a nice meal, we planned accordingly. After our servers fourth trip to the kitchen to ask the same question (was there dairy in the fish fry batter, and what sides contained dairy) it was evident there was some breakdown in processes. She was a one woman show when it came to ordering drinks, bussing our table, filling water, removing menus, and all that the evening entailed. It was evident that the lack of teamwork or efficient communication was lost in the other staff holding up walls and passing by the stacked dishes as this kind and young lady struggled to manage her five tables by herself, as the others collectively catered to the other one table not in her section. Had we not noticed the pricing error for our martini Monday, we may have even been overcharged.
Bless the kind server for doing her best, but the fourth entree that was never entered and arrived many minutes after the other three and still luke warm wasn’t something you could easily overlook.
As locals who also work in this industry and in this community, we strive to support other local eateries and give them the benefit of the doubt in most instances, but two occurrences in one weekend, our steep checks illustrated that the prices did not reflect...

Read moreVisited with two other couples for my birthday on Saturday. I was very happy with the service however the food was terrible. Some examples were my husband ordered the cuban sandwich and it wasn't even pressed. Now I will talk about my meal....I started out with the crab cake appetizer. I was told there was no filler, while this was true to a certain extent whatever they used to bind the cake was horrible. It was a mushy mess, I had my husband try it and he totally agreed with me. A highlight was a bowl of chili. The chili was overflowing with beef and had an absolutely wonderful flavor, I would highly recommend it. Now on to the entree which was the worst part of the meal. They had a special for $40.00 which was two beef medallions with garlic potatoes and vegetable. The potatoes were roasted but the temperature was not good, they were almost cold, the vegetable was great and the beautiful edible flower was tasty. Now the medallions... I ordered them medium and it came out rare with congealed blood on top. I was told it was the Cabernet sauce...not. I took two bites of the medallion once they cooked it more and could not eat it. My husband wasn't even willing to have a taste of it as it looked positively revolting. In addition for a $40.00 special of medallions I was not expecting to receive what appeared to be two pieces of beef that were butterflied and not much bigger than the size of a golf ball. In case you are wondering they were butterflied when they first came out. I don't know what cut of beef they used but it was tough and chewy. I have to say I have never given a restaurant this low of a score before. The nice part is that the manager said dessert for me was on the house. Not sure if it was because of my meal or my birthday. I really wanted the creme brulee but they were out and settled on the key lime pie which was average. In case you are wondering what happened to the medallions, one of the couples that we were with said they would give it to their dogs. What does it say that no one wanted to eat it, but at least hopefully the...
