So...I guess I have to give a single star rating to get this to post. I tried to give it no stars.
I understand restaurants are doing their best during Covid-19. That goes without saying, but let me just explain how today's takeout order went.
Called in to place an order for Buttermilk Pancakes and Cornbread Pancakes.
Was told that the order would take 45 minutes. Ok, I'll bite since this place has a 4/5 star rating.
Upon arrival noticed that the establishment was busy and understandably so for a Sunday. Arrived to pick up my order after 40 minutes. Told the woman (who appeared to be in her 40's/early 50's, had blond-ish hair and was fairly tall) that I was there to pick up. She asked for my name, etc.
She then proceeds to tell me that it will be ANOTHER 45 minutes because half of their grill was out. Apparently, they lost the pilot light. How hard is it to relight? I'm seriously interested in knowing this. 5 minutes max? Anyone?
I told her that I just waited roughly 45 minutes for said, two orders of pancakes and asked her if I heard her correctly that it would be an additional 45? She then proceeds to ignore me and look off in to the restaurant. At this point I am talking to her left ear with zero acknowledgement.
She storms off and walks away from me. Yelling back at me as she walks away "I'm going to check the tickets!"
Comes back and says "there are two tickets in front of you" Ok...so, what does that mean? She offers no explanation. I asked her if that's roughly 5-10 minutes? To which her response was "it could be that or it could be 6-8, or it could be 10-11 minutes". I go to sit down and wait patiently.
She comes back within those 10 minutes and says I'm all set.
I said that I hope she has a nice day, to which she replies with attitude "I hope you have a nice day as well". My response "Oh, mines great! I hope yours gets better and improves" she replied "Mines fantastic" I leave her with a "Doesn't sound like it!" And walk out.
Upon arriving home, here's what we were given...burnt, falling apart, dry AF pancakes with no taste. Literally we each took a couple of bites and they ended up in the trash.
Their website touts the following:
"Kristin's opened in Braintree, November of 2003. The restaurant has won the Best of Braintree Best Spot for Breakfast eight consecutive years. We offer many menu items available only at Kristin's."
Who did they pay off for this nomination and award for eight consecutive years?
Better yet, how do I get my $15-16 dollars back?
Recommended? Heck no. IHOP makes way better food than this. Keep the attitude. Your customers don't want to receive it from you. We are trying to be nice and come and enjoy your food/establishment during these tough times to help YOU out. We'll share word of mouth with our family/friends good or bad. You don't want to make the wrong impression folks. Terrible.
STAY AWAY. Go to Ashley's! Here's the address and details:

Read moreOverall no complaints. Went for a couples brunch and mutually agreed to rate five based on our combined food and service experience. Just moved to Braintree from Quincy and decided to try a new breakfast spot. We picked up the menu and noticed Prices are decent and there is a good selection without being too overwhelming. Parking is on the street and can be a bit sparse, however we found a spot just two store fronts down. Parking is two hours so more than enough for brunch. Aesthetically it’s no fuss no muss.
We went around 12:30pm on a Wednesday (they close at 2pm this day). We walked in and were seated immediately. It did not get too crowded while we were there. Staff was friendly and attentive without being pushy. You can sit at a table or at the countertop on somewhat lower stools . They have a coffee machine, juice machine and hot chocolate machine behind the counter. Behind the counter is also there menu and specials in fun chalk colors. Printed menus are handed out when you walk in. There is a single bathroom in the back towards the kitchen.
We ordered: a corn ‘Johnny’ and a coffee cake pancake, a ham/sausage/bacon/cheese omelette, wheat toast, eggs Benedict and home fries.
I loved the eggs Benedict, plenty of sauce without smothering the plate, English muffin was thick and cooked just the right amount of stiffness to not get super soggy from the sauce and egg while eating. The Canadian bacon (ham) was thick cut and salty. Super happy with it. Excited to try the other Benedict’s they have.
Home fries were cooked well, crunchy without being burned, and the wheat toast was nice and thick cut. The omelet was also great (I would have ordered it without cheese because it felt a little overwhelming, but the meats were thickly chunked and plentiful). Would order again
The corn pancake was pretty yummy, it tasted like a blissful mesh of pancake and corn bread, topped with some whipped butter and you were good to go. Would order again.
Note on pancakes- you can order 1-3, and they are the size of a large plate. For most people 1 is enough if you have some other things with your meal.
Unfortunately I wasn’t In Love with the coffee cake pancake. I expected it to be sweeter but it was just sort of meh. That being said, there was nothing wrong with the way it was cooked. When I added the cinnamon sugar (that comes on top) with some syrup it was a decent enough pancake. Just a bit of a letdown compared to the other foods we got. Would not get it again but brought it home as a leftover.
We ordered ice coffee, which is literally black coffee with ice in a tall glass, cream comes in the small single serving containers and sugar is in a dispenser on the table. Don’t order this expecting frills....
Read moreThis is the first time I have ever given a place a 1 star. So we'll start from the beginning, when I arrived today on new years day It was fairly busy. We got seated after waiting for about 15 minutes. When we got seated we were in the corner we didn't receive any service for 25 minutes they completely forgot about us. When one of the 4 waitresses finally came over she told us we were going to be moved because they had a party of 8 coming and told us she could take our drink order. Once we got moved we didn't receive any service for 10 minutes a different waitress came over and finally took our order. While sitting at our new table we had noticed multiple parties of people that arrived after us were eating their food. We complained and the 2nd waitress did her best to make up for it. While waiting for our food one of the waitresses was delivering drinks to the party behind us and dropped one of the drinks. It bounced off the ground and some sort of milk was spilled all over my brand new jacket. It took that waitress about ten minutes to clean it up and to wipe down the mess all over my jacket. Once we finally got our food it was ok not the best pancakes I've ever had, but not the worst pancakes either. Throughout our whole time there only 1 of the 3 staff members we dealt with showed us courtesy and respect. At the end of this awful visit I noticed a piece of hair on the side of my plate. I'll never step foot inside this...
