I don't usually give such a low rating, but I really must warn the public. Here is what I encountered with my family last night. We arrived around 6:30 PM. The place was really warm. They had a fan right in front of the thermostat. That should be clue #1. It was actually cooler outside, which says a lot considering we are in Tampa in August. There are ceiling fans, but they were not on. As for decorations. The tables are made of wood and if you sit in a booth, you get to sit on hard, flat wood. No cushion. The chairs have a thin cushion. My tiny daughter complained that she was uncomfortable. The decorations consist of plastic pre-cut decorations hung about the ceiling in a flag-like display. Some said Cinco de Maya and others were just guitars or Day of Dead skeleton faces. Looked like something you buy at the Dollar Store. As for the music, they have a good sound system. Not too loud. A large screen TV depicting a picture of the singer and the playlist. The music was Mexican cowboy music. Nothing special.
Now for the food. We ordered ice water and the first glass had ice. We had to ask for refills. The waitress didn't have enough sense to check to see if we wanted more. She came out with a pitcher but no ice. Just lukewarm water. She also brought out a bowl of tortilla chips with three dipping sauces, mild, tomatillo (medium), and spicy. Very good. We ordered. My daughter had three tacos with steak, street style. They came ala carte. My wife and I both ordered the Texas Fajitas with two sides. Steak, chicken, and shrimp with peppers and onions. Her two sides were Mexican rice and a salad. Mine were French fries and a salad. The salad came with no dressing. When we asked for dressing, she offered only two choices, Ranch or Bleu Cheese. The French fries were hot and crisp but again, I had to ask for ketchup. The fajitas came on the sizzling plate. Mostly green peppers. The chicken on my plate was served slightly cold to the touch so I just avoided it. The steak was a little bit on the chewy side. The shrimp were plump and delicious. The three tiny flour tortillas barely fit any of the food, so I ate most of it with a fork. I couldn't get the waitress to come over because she wouldn't look towards us. Instead, she focused on new customers entering the place or talking to her helper.
When i wanted the check, I couldn't get her to come over, so I sent my daughter over to her. She was standing at the counter with her back towards the diners. We paid with a credit card, so we were charged an additional 1.5% of the bill for credit card order. Nowhere on the menu did it say that credit card orders were extra. In addition, the fajitas we ordered stated price on the menu was $20 but, on the bill, she charged us $22. It was so hot in there that I just wanted to leave so I paid the extra $4 for the food and the extra $5 for the credit card upcharge. Needless to say, her tip money was reduced by the amount of the overcharges.
I won't be back. There was nothing special...
Read moreI found this place on Facebook with the free margarita promotion and we decided to finally visit. Let me tell you, do NOT miss out. The food was awesome. And our server Kadesha was great! She gave us time when we needed it to review the menu and answered any questions we have (as many restaurants do things differently). We did stick with the combos as my husband and I do not typically eat a lot (I usually stick to the kids menu at most places) but I was only shocked at how much food we got for the price. For $10 I selected to entree items and one side, for $9 my husband got one entree item and two sides. I selected two birria tacos (which are my favorite) and the Mexican rice, he got the enchilada, salad, and French fries. They do give free chips and salsa (which definitely tasted fresh) and the chips were warm!
The consomé was really flavorful for my Birria. The only thing I was not a fan of was the cheese, but it is the cheese that typically comes with birria, which a little goes a LONG way. I will order again just with light cheese now that I know what kind of cheese they use. They were still full size tacos and a heaping portion of rice, I only ate 1/4 of the rice and one taco and I was full but I did take the rest to go home. The margarita doesn’t come in flavors just a lime house margarita and I’m not a huge fan of unflavored but this was really good! And strong. If you are looking for a place they have happy hour on Friday and Saturday and you can get a lot of bang for your buck for sure.
My husbands food he really enjoyed, and he is someone who gets tired of me always wanting Mexican lol. He was excited that their salad had pico de gallo and avocado on it. His enchilada was steak and I tried the steak itself and it was flavorful! His fries were crispy and fluffy which was great!
We are definitely going to be back to try...
Read moreWe were here 1/31/25 they must not be good with bigger parties we are a party of 10. 1st there was 1 waitress and the restaurant was full. There was another lady who hung out in the kitchen mostly occasionally make a drink. She should have been backing up the waitress. We waited over 30 minutes just to get our drink order in and10 min for the waitress to return with flat soda after we told her about 20 minutes later she retuned and said they can’t fix the co2 and we would have to drink bottled soda. 3 we finally get to order when the food comes out none of the food comes out together they completely forgot 4 meals by the time they came most everyone had pushed there food away, fries are cold like they were in the fridge. what they call an enchilada is a small soft taco shell with some dryer up sauce on it and a bit of cheese it was gross. What the called a quesadilla was soft taco shell flipped in half with a bit of meat n cheese on it. I have to order 3 sour cream just to eat the cold rice and nasty dry food. Then they charged me over 5$ for sour cream and I wasn’t even told I was being charged…. That’s was just my food! There is not enough space on here to tell you about the other 9. 4 my 2nd drink didn’t come out till right before we left 5 the manger came out 1 time to chit chat with some friends. 6 it was so load you couldn’t hear the person next to you- the waitress was a little hard to understand
This was horrible we will never go back and it could have mostly been avoided if they would have just helped the waitress instead of letting her drown I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE Just go to Mi Casa...
