Sarku Japan — Restaurant in Brandon

I have eaten at this spot a lot of times over the last 4 years, since relocating to Florida. I have been a Sarku customer for about 12 years now, mostly in Raleigh NC. I truly have to say that my experience here on October 30, 2023, was the worst I have ever had.

I was one of 4 people waiting, and waiting, and waiting for our food. In past experience I do not think it has every taken more than 5 - 7 minutes for a batch of chicken to cook on the grill, but these guys took FOREVER. The 3 dudes behind the grill, as well as the 2 females, stood around and talked, and talked and then talked some more. To be fair, at least the "cook" was shifting the meat around and flipping it over time and again, but it was just getting more done as he did it.

I complained vocally that it was taking much too long to get this done. We waited almost 20 minutes for a job that should have taken no more than 7 or 8 at the most. 1 lady even told them that they were cooking her food to well done, and they just ignored us.

Suffice it to say, I do not know if I will ever return to this location, and if I do, it might be a cold day in he** when that happens. I will go out of my way to go to the location at Citrus Park as opposed to Brandon. Better yet, I will not go there at all.

I will stick to driving back to Lakeland and eat at Teppan Express at the Lakeland Mall. At least they give you your yumyum...

The cook with the ear ring in his eyebrow is very unprofessional. I was a regular customer until last week and on 3 occasions he was present and made my visit not worth it. Most times I only visit the Brandon Mall to stop by this place. When I see the guy with the big white hat on his head and ear ring in his eye brow, I normally walk away. But recently I visited and I waited all day to eat from this place to see the guy present and I still ordered. I once again made the wrong decision. He gives smaller and smaller protions every visit. I instead asked for a Refund and drove to University Mall. I got a plate from this new place in University Mall smiliar to this place...and I was treated with respect and it was worth the long drive. I now have a new eating spot in University Mall. I made this a big deal because I eat out everyday and I was a regular customer with Sarku Japan at multiple locations.

This place has a punch card.....they don't tell you that they have one and will deny it's existance if you ask (they will pretend that they don't speak english very well) about it....but they do. You buy 5 rolls you get one free. Needless to say I ate at this establishment 7 times in 2 weeks (2 times I forgot to have them punch the card). I go to get my free roll and they take the card and REFUSE TO HONOR the free roll! I have friends that used to eat here....not anymore. Congrats....due to your DISGUSTING display of customer service you have lost my business, the business of my friends (who used to eat here frequently), AND got yourself a bad reputation. Crap rolls down hill from here for this poor excuse for a business. Stay away! Update: They shut...
