Went here with wife to pick up salads after work on Monday. She ordered the Caesar salad with salmon and I got the avocado salad with a turkey burger patty. The salmon salad was fine, and the salmon was actually quite tasty.

Surprisingly enough the avocado salad was horrible. Every piece of avocado was overly ripened to the point where it was dark brown, and the turkey burger was so dry it was crispy on the outside. he must have over cooked it for at least 3.5 minutes. Maybe it’s because they served me old turkey.

The salad did not settle in my stomach right and it’s been causing me problems for the last 3 days.

The chef must have been flirting with the waitress staff because I don’t understand how a burger could be so dry, and it’s disgusting that when you pay $22 for an avocado salad the avocados come out brown. Short answer, don’t go to Eli’s on Monday.

Chef, I hope you’re reading this. For the benefit of the greater good, please retire from professionally cooking forever.

To the owners: please recommend that the head chef on Monday night, 1/16 find another line of work to...

A solid four. The turkey burger was the best I've ever had.Bar none. My husband's cheeseburger was very good as well.fries were decent. service from gianna was on point. Prices not bad and we both left completely full. The burgers were enormous. The only hitch was the family of six seated right near us with two very sick little kids coughing and sneezing the whole time. I really hope it wasn't covid.why people take sick kids out in public is beyond me.not the restaurants fault but I wish they'd seated them far away from everyone else. Update : returned late this afternoon and the service was just awful.very slow and waitress didn't tell us about the upcharge for onion rings vs fries. Very deceptive. Then she disappeared and kept us waiting to pay our check when we were trying to get to another appt.my husband's burger was overcooked and the onion rings were obviously frozen but not too bad. 64.00 plus 10.00 tip (undeserved) for lunch for 3 people...kind of expensive.we'll be considering another place next time.very very disappointed.adjusting my previous rating for service...

My boyfriend and I wanted a good meal later at night during the week- I googled and found Eli’s which is right up the road but we never thought to try it. We decided to try because the menu looked good.

The restaurant itself was comfy and cozy- Nice lighting not too bright or dim. Large booths so the high backed comfy seats. I like high back seats for privacy. Very clean. Only thing I disliked was the bar was super loud but it was karaoke night so, understandable.

We started with the Philly steak eggrolls and they’re so big! Not small frozen ones. They’re the size of Chinese food egg rolls. Fresh. Hot. Full of steak and cheese. Came with a really good chipotle type of sauce and green onion on top.

He got the smokehouse burger and he loved it. I got the cali chicken blt sandwhich with tomato lettuce bacon avocado and sweet chili aioli. It was TO DIE FOR. The chicken was a freshly breaded and fried breast. And on a soft warm buttery brioche bun.

I also got a campfire s’mores tini- and it was so tasty!!!

This was our first time eating at the Eli’s in Branford, but we’ve visited the one in Hamden a few times so we knew the food was going to be great! The eggroll sampler is a must, and they just have some of the best American comfort foods on the menu. Obsessed with the loaded croquettes and burger we had which came with fried provolone and and vodka sauce! The eggplant parm was a gorgeous stack, the Mac & Jack was super flavorful, and the spinach and artichoke dip was great too. They have a great selection of drinks to choose from, and they even had some new seasonal ones on there like the pumpkin spice margarita. The food came out quickly - we were in and out within an hour and were very impressed by that! Everything was clean, and the staff was attentive.

I’m so sad and disappointed. I have had better experiences in the past but this take out order was pretty bad. We got the native tomato bruschetta, the street corn Brussels and the spinach and artichoke dip. The ā€œnativeā€ tomatoes look and taste like cherry tomatoes from the grocery store - they just roll off the bread, which is visibly lightly charred but it’s not toasted, it’s just bread. The Brussels sprouts were SO salty we could not eat them :( The spinach and artichoke dip evidently now comes with bread instead of the tortilla chips advertised on the menu. When I called to clarify, they told me they could always switch it out; but I was already home with my food. I was also surprised at how small the portion was. This is after 1 bite :(
