Forget Sunday brunch, what about Friday brunch?! My schedule is all over the place, and I randomly had the day off. Mine as well make the most of it by starting off with a big meal!
Parking: This spot is located in a busy plaza. Finding parking can be a bit difficult; especially on the weekends. Free parking lot.
Ambiance/Environment: They have a medium sized space with indoor and outdoor seating. Great for groups of all sizes. Very clean and modern inside. Once you walk in, overlook the menu, order at the register, and seat yourself. The server will bring out your orders.
Service: Shout out to May! The sweetest and most courteous worker! She was taking orders at the register, delivering orders to tables, and checking on each table afterwards.
Food & drinks:
Avocado Benedict - poached egg, avocado, ham, English muffin, butter, & hollandaise sauce served with garden spring and country fried potatoes. The poached egg was satisfying to pop. The avocado and salad were fresh. There was also a generous amount of potatoes! Despite the ham being a bit greasy, I really enjoyed this dish!
Popping Yolk Burger - Angus beef, sunny side up egg, grilled mushroom, cheddar, honey mustard sauce, also served with garden spring and country fried potatoes. The salad was also fresh and generous amount of potatoes. The beef was cooked well, juicy, and lots of flavor!
Ube Pancakes - This is one of their new menu items! The Ube flavor came through! It was topped with coconut flakes and drizzled with Ube sauce. Sooo delicious!
Ube Coffee - I ordered this hot because I wanted a latte art hehe. The latte art was so cute. The Ube flavor was light while the coffee flavor was strong.
Egg Coffee - This comes iced only. The egg foam was thiccckkk. I personally thought it wasn’t overly sweet. Perfect amount of sweetness.
Pricing: Yes, prices are high. But what brunch spot doesn’t have high prices nowadays? Portions were big enough to share or save for later. I’d say...
Read moreCheck out Brea’s new popping brunch spot! I heard so many great things about Popping Yolk Café so I was super excited to know when they were going to open one up in Orange County. It’s a casual brunch spot and they don’t skimp out on the portions and quality. You order at the counter, get a number and find a table. You honestly can’t go wrong with their benedicts or French toasts but I’ve also heard that their omelets are great as well. I came in on a Friday around noon and the place was about 85% full. I can definitely imagine how crowded it is during a weekend, so plan accordingly!
|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are State College Blvd. and Imperial Highway -Located in the same plaza as Fogo de Chao, Dot n Dough and more! -Shared parking lot with plenty of spots, hassle free
|| F O O D || Norwegian Benedict – The classic smoked salmon benedict! Eggs were cooked perfectly so I could do the oh so satisfying egg yolk pop. I loved how generous they were with the smoked salmon. I get so sad when places put so little yet charge so much for it.
Crab Cakes Benedict – This was such a unique benedict that it actually caught my eye first and I knew I had to try it out. I wasn’t a big fan of the coleslaw portion but that is just my personal preference. I loved everything else about this benedict though.
Apple Cinnamon French Toast – it was so heavenly like an apple pie on French toast. It really was such a decadent treat with the whipped...
Read moreGiving one star because for the price this place left me expecting much more. The seasoned potatoes were the best thing I must say… my kids ordered the half order of French toast and when I tell you the it was SATURATED in grease I mean drenched! When we cut the French toast up the bread was see through. My oldest son said it was very greasy and could feel the grease with every bite.. my baby loves French toast and he only ate less than one of the 3 slices..the berries were mushy and old.. NOT FRESH You can tell the quality is not here
The omelette my mom ordered was good except all the 3 slices of avocado they charge $3.00 for were brown n rotten looking… Again the quality for the food provided is not here.. seems they care more to save money and serve old mushy fruits and veggies to customers.
I was surprised because it got some Asian fusion vibes which I love and usually they are VERY HEALTHY. So idk why they would serve the customers this?? Very disappointed and I don’t recommend you coming here u less you want to order a salad or maybe the breakfast sandwich..and the seasoned potatoes. That’s it. HONESTLY THEY NEED TO GET TIPS FROM LIKE Egg tuck because this is not it. Now I see why it was kind of...
