My family of 8 came to eat here for 3.2 hours on a Sunday, and we were very excited because of the menu. The restaurant had signs with a disclaimer saying, “This is not a fast food restaurant…expect on a busy day to wait 30 minutes to an hour for your food.” We were all prepared to sit down and eat for awhile and were all fine with this; however, we ended up not being able to leave until 3:20. The service was very unprofessional and awkward, and while our waitress was very sweet, the chef was very rude. She yelled at our waitress (mind you, the only waitress), and she was very unkind to us. We brought a baby along whom she fussed at us for letting hold a menu because she said he’d rip it. She sat with us multiple times throughout the meal and was very aggressive in essentially asking us to tell her that the food was incredible. When we had ordered, I asked for the linguine with chicken, and she rudely remarked “no, no chicken, why would you get the chicken?” All of the food we received was overcooked, under-seasoned, and overpriced. Our family loves to pass food around and share with each other, and when we did, she came behind us and directly fussed at me “why are you eating that [and not your own meal],” to which I said, “we just like to share.” My aunt had pushed hers aside after eating half of it, and the chef very aggressively remarked, “oh, you don’t like that??” The most insane part of all of this was that the chef hid behind a tall counter by our table to listen to what we were saying just out of eyesight. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, so much so that my pregnant cousin had to drive to a nearby gas station to use the restroom facilities. The entire experience was unkind and uncomfortable, and when we went to pay, we were told that they only accepted cash, Cashapp, and Venmo, and absolutely “NO” credit cards. They additionally would not split the check at all, and they claimed this information was on the menu though it was not. We received our total and paid, and she gave us an itemized bill as we left, which we found only after paying and leaving was incorrect. Many of the items were slightly upcharged compared to their menu prices. It was an all-around awful experience, and we would not recommend. Cafe Sydnie Mae next door would be a much better choice for Cajun food or really any food and...
Read moreMy husband and I absolutely LOVE dining Chez Jacqueline! We have been twice and both times our experiences were incredible!
The first time we ate here was on a Sunday. My husband and I walked in around 3:20. They sat us and began with our drink order. After ordering our food we found out they closed at 3p but they had no issue at all serving us. We thought they closed at 7 as advertised on google. We felt terrible but they couldn’t have been more kind and willing to serve us regardless. Mme. Jacqueline came and greeted us herself. She is the kindest and sweetest woman! We just love her so much! My husband ordered the fish with crawfish étouffé that he must have talked about for at least a week afterwards. It was divine. I enjoyed the shrimp linguine which was so delicious also! We couldn’t have been more pleased!
The environment including Mme. Jacqueline makes you feel like you’re eating at your grandmothers house. She’s so inviting, the restaurant is cozy, nothing fancy. A place to enjoy good Cajun cooking and wonderful company!
Our second evening Chez Jacqueline was for her Valentine’s Day 8 course dinner meal! It was fantastic! The food was different and delicious! There was a gentleman playing the guitar while singing all evening. There were red heart balloons everywhere. Each woman received a box of chocolates and a beautiful rose upon arrival. The wine of your choice was served as the courses began. We couldn’t have asked for a better Valentines dinner experience!
As others have said, Mme. Jacqueline prepares everything fresh. This is not a fast food restaurant. She takes her time and you can tell she truly loves to serve. Mme. Jacqueline will come to your table to greet you, check on you and make sure youre enjoying yourself. She truly takes care of her guests! We love her and her staff! I hope this review entices you to visit because if you love good southern hospitality and delicious Cajun cooking…you will LOVE dining...
Read moreEuropean experience! Make sure you have a couple of hours as everything is prepared fresh. CASH ONLY so you aren’t surprised.
We visited the small quaint town of Beaux Bridge, Louisiana today known as the crawfish capital of the world. When we happened upon a large menu sign on the sidewalk with French dishes that sounded amazing, and saw several small cafe tables for outside seating, we thought - perfect! It turned into an unexpected European experience.
We ordered iced tea from the menu and it was brought out about 20 minutes later as it was freshly made. We ordered our food at that time. Another 15 minutes or so. warm french bread and butter were brought to our table.
Meanwhile, another couple sat down and went through the same experience. I decided to look the restaurant up on google and it was rated 4.5 stars - great! Then I noticed quite a few comments like this; “Everything is cooked fresh and took time to prepare. This is not fast food people.”, “You have to wait an hour and a half to be served … “.
By this time the other couple was getting restless and asked when the food would be served and the waiter said it takes about 2 hours; they got up and left. By this time we had already invested an hour or so and we were enjoying ourselves so it was fine. When the meal arrived, about 1:45 minutes in, it was worth it. I had a cup of crawfish bisque and a cup of seafood gumbo. My husband is allergic to seafood so they made him a hamburger. Two hours later we...
