When I walked in I felt I would really like this place. Cool environment, a guy in the corner playing violin singing Cajun music, and an interesting menu. I had the Cochon's Pork Skin Nachos. It sounded really unique but many of the skins ended up very soggy by the time we got them. Not very much pulled pork either. It just wasn't executed well. Maybe put the skins in a circle and the pulled pork in the middle instead of on top. Or maybe in a bowl. Next I had the Chicken Bayou Tech. It was described as a chicken breast stuffed with sausage. I imagined a whole breast stuffed with fresh sausage that was not in a casing. It actually was chicken breast that was thinly cut about 1/4 inch thick and wrapped around a smoked link of sausage. So essentially only the chicken needed to be cooked. Sadly it was so overcooked I had trouble eating it. I only ate the sausage. Not to mention there was a bacon and cheese cream sauce on top, which you would think now how could that be bad. SALT! Way to salty. Even if I tried to eat the chicken the salt prevented me from eating it. And I have a high tolerance and love to salt my food. Next I had the Bread pudding. It was just ok. It was still pretty cold and just wasn't special at all. Very dense and borderline dry. To top off the whole experience was the service. It was a late lunch and it we pretty much is and another table. The food came out extremely slow and we had to look for the server for drinks more than once and again when we finished the meal to get the checks. I really wanted to like it more but it just wasn't a...
Read moreThe live zidaco style music was a warm welcome to the authentic Louisiana diner. Upon entering you step into the lifestyle with wall to wall history, unique collections, and local regualrs enjoying their after church Sunday meal. The staff is quick, efficient and friendly. The menu here highlights the local cuisine with the from scratch flavor being the key ingredient. The benigets are crispy on the outside yet fluffy inside and have a nice balance of sweetness. The chicken biscuit gravy is bigger than it appears in the picture, definitely a full meal. The handmade biscuits are perfect for soaking up the skillet gravy that will take you back to grandma's in one bite. The kick of flavor of the chicken strips along side the crispy skin makes a delicious combination with the biscuits and gravy. The crossiant French toast with seasonal fruit was good but unfortunately this is where a star was lost due to the meat flavor transfer from the grill. My wife does not typically eat meat and the lack of it on this dish is why she ordered it, so for it to have the meat flavor on the crossiant and the strawberries ended her meal. We will definitely try this place again and...
Read moreNever again!! Refused Veteran Service dog with ADA documentation. I am on vacation and as tourists normally do, our group became hungry and wanted to check out the local places. We decided to go to Tante Marie's to enjoy what we thought would be a nice meal. We walked in and everything was fine until we went to sit down. One of the group members I am with, has an ADA Veteran owned Service Dog. The waitress (Angel) refused us service, saying animals were not allowed. I explained that she is a service dog and offered to provide official documentation, as her certification was through the ADA. The waitress refused, citing that the owner (Angela) stated she could refuse service to anyone and no animals were allowed whether they were a service dog or not. Not only was this embarrassing, but we had to leave and go somewhere else to eat. Her dog is needed for medical reasons and Angel showed no concern for my group members medical needs or Federally Protected right to have her for a U.S Veteran wherever she goes. We will not be returning. Zero stars should be available for such blatant disrespect for her, her dog, our group, Federal Laws then...
