Theme — Restaurant in Brentwood

I had an appointment right next to this place and I was early so I decided to walk in here and grab a drink while I waited 20 minutes. I walked in and sat at the bar for a while until I was greeted. The bartender walked out of the restroom on her cellphone, came up to me, asked me what I wanted and then asked for my ID (while still being on the cellphone, which is very unprofessional.) I gave her my ID and she asked if I had a form of ID from PA and I said “no I’m from Ohio and I have an Ohio ID” she then said that she could NOT serve me because the owner does not allow this establishment to serve people without a PA drivers license or form of ID???? I have never heard of being denied service somewhere for not being from that town/state. My ID is valid and I am 28 years old, there was no reason I should have been denied service. I said that was a big deterrent for business and the bartender said “well the owner does pretty well and it’s not that big of a deterrent.” I said, “by the looks of this place it definitely is” I had never been here before and knew nothing about this place, but it was dirty, run down, and definitely could use more business/updates/cleanliness. I only walked in to kill some time while I waited for my appointment, and by this first impression I would never go back or recommend anybody to go here. From the initial interaction with the bartender walking out of the restroom and greeting me while she’s on her cell phone, to her refusing me service because I’m not from PA, and just the atmosphere and how dirty it was, definitely not. So I guess, to say the least, if you’re not from PA they will not serve you even if you are completely valid and legal. (you’re not missing out on a high quality place either so...

I got the chicken salad. It tasted great but of course isn’t really a salad anymore than a taco salad is a salad. Think iceberg lettuce with cheese and fries (and some other stuff but you get the idea). I’m new to Pittsburgh and this seems par for the course here — fries on everything and vegetables for show rather than health. Maybe this is better than ordering the burger but… not by far. I’m officially crunchy after living out west for two decades! But… now I remember why the food is “better” on this coast — just not better for you!

The Theme is exactly what I want from a local bar. It is chill, with good bar food, daily specials, and they are open to new people. I started going with my in laws last year and was nervous to try a new place; they didn't roll out a red carpet or anything, but treated me like I belonged. If you're in a rush, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a good environment for relaxing with friends or family, this is a great place. They have a few TVs that'll play local sports or some movies. Last night they had on Star Wars and a crime drama at...
