We got ordered takeout and are so glad to have found a new (for us) gem in town to visit! In total we ordered the BBQ burger, buffalo wings (with extra sauce, they had a nice kick!), mac & cheese, and the "fried snack" dessert. The burger was really tasty and the brioche bun was a perfect compliment. Really appreciated the onion rings too (need to order a side of them too next time). The only changes I'd like to see with the burger are for more BBQ sauce (seemed to only be on about half the burger) and I'd love to order it medium if possible (they don't ask so I'm not sure if this is an option).
The wings had a wonderful char (not burnt!) that added to the flavor. The mac & cheese was just ok, probably won't order that again; there seemed to be just a slight amount of graininess in the texture and they just really didn't bring any special flavors - so not bad, but not great either. Lastly the "fried snack" on the menu was a total mystery to us so we decided to try it. It's a deep fried pastry with a sweet cream inside. It was a great dessert and I'd love to get it again with ice cream whenever we dine in sometime.
I do wish the prices were a bit lower or that the burger would come with fries or a side. $12 for a solid restaurant burger really isn't a bad price to pay these days though, so I won't complain much. :) All in all, very happy with this place. Appreciated that the food was ready on time, still hot once we got it home, and the order was all...
Read moreRead the reviews and thought we would go and give this place a try. You go downstairs into a basement and thatâs where the restaurant is located. The sign says Bear with them. Theyâre short on help. We get a table and my guest gets the wings with sweet potato fries. I get the classic burger with onion rings. I asked for extra pickle on the burger and was informed that they donât put pickle on a burger you get a pickle spear on the side. I guess thatâs OK? Beer selection is pretty good. Had a Brevard lager. ice cold in a glass. My guess wings were large properly cooked with ample sauce on them. they were good. Sweet potato fries were ordinary restaurant grade. My burger was average at best one thin slice of tomato. I asked for extra onion and instead received barely any onion. When I pointed the side to the waitress, she went and got me more onion reluctantly. Later, I found out that I was charged for extra onion. My onion rings were average restaurant grade audible box. Catch up had to be requested. Blue cheese for the wings was an extra charge. Iced tea was average. Again restaurant is in the basement so there is no view of the street for people watching. Still it had kind of cool vibe. Would I recommend? I think Iâll continue my search for a good burger somewhere else. I donât like being...
Read moreWe just visited Papa L.E.W. for the first time and it will definitely not be our last visit. We were greeted immediately upon crossing the threshold and shown to a table. We were provided menus and beverages and told the evening's specials by Carson our waitress. While the menu is limited, everything on it is superb. Why confuse us with a multitude of choices? Right? The main dishes are wings and burgers. We chose the jalapeno poppers as a starter. O.M.G.! They make the best I've ever had! The peppers taste baked as opposed to fried. They are soft and yet still firm and the crispy bacon wrapped around them is simply divine. We then shared the special - Salmon Tacos with apple slaw served on a bed of their housemade potato chips. They were amazingly delicious and big enough for us to share. We had some yummy mac n' cheese on the side, too. Stuffed as we were, we chose to take our dessert to go. The special was Apple Bread Pudding with rum raisins and rum sauce. There is also banana pudding on their menu (we already plan to have that on our next visit). There are TVs showing sporting events and an entirely separate room with pool and ping pong tables, a stage with a piano, and fun sitting areas. This is a wonderful restaurant and a must-try if you haven't been. We'll be back...
