A friend recommended the pecan-encrusted brie, so we went. The place has some character. The staff was pleasant. Naturally they were not serving the brie that day. We ordered friend green tomatoes, salmon dinner, eggplant club and zuccini chips. First up were the fried green somethings. The first one I bit into was actually gooey inside from excessive, uncooked coating. The second looked rather well-done, so I gave that one a go. I tried to hack my way through it with a serrated knife, which you don't usually see on a table. I was unsuccessful. We were so hungry we would have gnawed a horse butt that day, and since the server didn't reappear for quite some time, my man downed a few. When server returned, I told her they were inedible and demonstrated my best hacksaw technique. She was unimpressed, but took them away. Next came the the entrees. My albeit attractive looking eggplant stack was tasteless. It contained approximately one tsp of red pepper, a tsp of portabello and three tiny nibs of bleu cheese. The zucchini strips were also tasteless, with the added benefit of being very greasy. The salmon was burnt and tasted fishy. Server offered us half off. "Half off what?" "The fried green tomatoes." I told her that none of it was edible and ran down the list. Told her it wasn't ok. Next came the manager and I told him everything. A young guy who had been trained to spot cheaters carefully explained to these two world travelers that since the fried green whatevers were half eaten, he could only take half off. So what - like two dollars? We don't have conversations about two dollars. Me: "Ok, we're not gonna argue with you. We eat out a lot, we eat at 5 star restuarants and this is not acceptable food. You do whatever you want to do with the bill, but we're not gonna discuss this any more." Young man still standing there. My man: "I want you to go away now - go. go! GO!" (He's truly a nice man, but he'd had a long day, read: done with BS!) There was no opportunity to discuss anything with the staff because they were not often seen. Two stars for atmosphere, flowers and presentation. If you want consistenly good food and service, go around the corner to...
Read moreI’m still in shock about tonight’s dinner. How much would you pay for a scallops with risotto entree (see photo of whole meal with THREE scallops)? On Uber Eats it shows the price as $27 (see screenshot). On receipt, charged $49 (see photo of receipt). I would rate the taste as a 3 out of 5. Edible, but not memorable, and I certainly wouldn’t buy it again for $49. Maybe if it had made my tastebuds dance, I’d could overlook the significant price difference as I am aware of inflation including grocery prices. I just expect transparent pricing.
My husband had the Five Spice Tuna. He rates the taste as a 4 out of 5, and liked the amount of Tuna that was given. Again, UberEats showed this entree to be $20 (see screenshot) and the receipt shows it to be $27 (see photo).
The staff were friendly when I called to order (and no, they didn’t mention the total cost when I called). At the restaurant when I questioned the bill, one waiter said the prices on UberEats are out of date. I checked the FAQs on UberEats for Merchants to see how long it would take for updated pricing to render once the merchant updates it… immediately after clicking “save” (see screenshot below).
The food isn’t bad, but I feel very wronged as it feels like a bait and switch on the pricing. I’m undecided if I’d ever give this place another try. One might ask why I didn’t leave the food and walk out. It was 5:30pm and I hadn’t eaten a meal yet for the day - I was hungry and in no mood to figure out another option with my dogs waiting in the car with my husband.
In response to the owner - Yes, online menu platforms have grown in popularity over the past ~15 years, such as Uber Eats and similar. It is your responsibility to keep your digital business presence updated, even on third-party platforms, or at least delete your UberEats account so it does not display. You also could have your staff communicate pricing when ordering. I just listed three ways for you to take accountability and manage customer expectations. It might also help your business if you or someone else responded in a more professional manner. Your response is the reason I’ll never order from your...
Read moreThe only negative is the wait for a table... but we walked around Brevard and they sent us a text when our table was ready, and the meal was worth the hour wait. My husband is lactose intolerant, and the chef was very accommodating. His scallops were so good he practically inhaled them! I had Cobb salad with blackened chicken, and it was exceptionally good. The server was very friendly and efficient. They are restrained by COVID guidelines in how many tables they can fill, but they're doing a booming take-out business. I am looking forward to returning for another meal! *Edit/update: We took out of town friends here June 9, after talking it up as one of our favorite restaurants. Of course that day it wasn't up to par. Had to wait a good while after being seated for our waitress to appear. The table next to us was seated several minutes after us, and got their food at least ten minutes before us. Waitress forgot to bring my lunch, and our friend flagged down a different waitress to fetch it. Our waitress kept disappearing. My Signature Salad had very little of the yummy cheese it's made with, I never saw any of the "famous" crusted pecans it's supposed to have, and I could have used more salad dressing, but of course our waitress was nowhere to be found. The grilled shrimp I ordered as an extra was delicious, and a generous portion. I didn't think my friends' dishes were up to par, so it was kind of a sad experience for my husband and me, as we had been excited to take them there! Hopefully next time we'll have a better server, and the kitchen will be back to it's usual...
