We were in town to do a story on Google Maps to inspire others to travel & stay in town and visit the Pisgah National Forest.

Upon entering A Blast From The Past, I was greeted by Chuck one of the owners. He is co-owner with his wife as a partner.

He can talk your ear off if you let him. He knows the town’s history & honestly I wish I had more time to learn from him. We were headed to check into our hotel. He told me all about the Legend of the White Squirrel. He also gave me a little piece of paper that tells the story of how the White Squirrel came to be in Brevard.

This is my favorite shop in Brevard! Just walking around is a fun experience because the space is divided into sections devoted to different holidays and moods: there’s a cottagecore/fairycore section, a Halloween section, a Steampunk section, and several others. The stock represents quite a range, in mood, purpose, and price, and there are some really unique items, too.

If you like the cool and unusual (or want to buy a gift for someone who themselves is cool and unusual) you can’t go wrong with spending some time in A Blast...
