From out of town and looking for a good meal late afternoon, my party followed the local reviews and ended up here on the west side of the main roads that go through Brevard. At 4PM, we pulled into a parking spot to review the menu and locate a park at which we could eat our food (as there is no dining area).
We were a bit confused by the layout of the parking lot, but we quickly realized this was only a drive-thru. In that short time, about eight cars filled the driveway to the road.
Taking this as a good sign, we circled back into the drive-thru line. It took a little time more than at a Chick-fil-A to order and receive our food. And it was well worth the wait! Paid in cash for the 3% discount, and our two (beef) Brisket & (pork) Rib plates totaled about $33 after tax.
The result was a delightful culinary experience--definitely in the top five BBQ places at which I have ever eaten (and there have been many). It is hard to explain it, but the fat had been cooked off the three dry-rubbed ribs, leaving leaner--but still tender and flavorful--meat that was still on the bone but could be easily bitten off. While slightly less lean (as expected), the three slices of brisket were no less sensational. The included fries and vinegar-marinated coleslaw were some of the best I have ever had. Absolutely delicious!
As amazing as the meat and sides were, the sauces offered on the side were insanely possibly even better. The mustard sauce was more than just an expected BBQ sauce with a mustard base--it was the best mustard I believe I have ever had. The spicy chipotle BBQ sauce was my second favorite, but the sweet BBQ and spicy vinegar sauces were also very good.
This will be my go-to restaurant in Brevard, and I HIGHLY recommend it if you are anywhere near this local establishment. Do your taste buds a favor...
Read moreSO disappointed in Smoke On BBQ. We have been eating here since they started as a food truck and have always loved it. We drive from Atlanta to enjoy Brevard outdoors and then the highlight is always a meal from Smoke on. This weekend we got our usual Brisket sandwiches, but they were not at all what they normally are like. Instead of sliced brisket, it was chunks of what looked to be leftover fat trimmings. I knew something was off when I looked between the bun and it was cut up cubes instead of slices. Instead of slices of brisket, it was all fat with barely a hint of meat in the fat. I was SO very disappointed. I can't believe they pulled this stunt - never expected them to serve something like this. If this is what they had served us the first time we ever ate there, we would checked them off the list and never gone back. We always recommend them to our friends and many have gone upon our suggestion. Our previous trip we took 3 friends with us. I would have been so embarrassed had our meals been like this. We would have gone back to complain about these "fat" sandwiches, but we were already into our drive back to Atlanta and I was just so dumbfounded. I couldn't believe they passed these off as brisket sandwiches. Not sure what the explanation is, but now we're shell shocked and not sure if we'll be going back. Seriously, we drove 3 hours for this?!! Not anymore. Certainly will not be recommending them either. Shame on...
Read moreThis is an overall review, and a reaching out to the owner to request a response. 2 days ago I visited your business and ordered a pulled pork platter with collard greens and fries. I have never eaten better pork, ranks up with Hungry Harry's in Land-o- lakes, Florida, and the collard greens were the best I've ever eaten. This as opposed to the previous time I visited your business about a year ago. On that visit the pulled pork was so briny I could barely eat it; and just for reference I consume a very high salt diet. The collard greens were also mediocre at the time. Later that evening I felt sick and needed to consume multiple rounds of activated charcoal to ease my stomach. This is why I have not visited your business for a year, and honestly I am hesitant to return again due to the incredible inconsistency I've experienced there the past few years. Sometimes the food is delicious; and other times it is fair to poor quality with the pork being briny, dry and fatty. What gives? I would love to return soon and bring my family along. Can you relay to me and your other patrons that going forward your product will be consistent and high quality as it...
