The wifey picked this place for our last dinner in our "escape from reality" trip, since she was craving steak, and we pretty much tried all the establishments in Brevard that were open for dinner at this point. We had such a hit and miss experience so far we were apprehensive. The initial impression was bad: they were on a service pause because the kitchen was backed up. We waited in their patio to figure out our next destination, and in the process we were told we could order! Woohoo! We promptly ordered an appetizer of bread and pesto, and our entrees. Mine was shrimp and grits. Their service model of counter serve was novel. They pretty much do everything you would normally expect except you have to get your own water/tea and utensils. They still serve you the food. Unfortunately the cleanliness was not up to par that Sunday. The inside looked and felt dirty. Dishes strewn everywhere and the floor was visibly and literally sticky. The outside seating, on the other hand, was very pleasant and clean in comparison! The bread and pesto was strange. The sourdough bread and pesto made for a bad aftertaste combination. I tried the olive oil by itself and it was not particularly old or foul, but the bread made it taste bitter. Strange pairing. As for my shrimp and grits, it was EXCELLENT. Lots of shrimp and sausage, and the grits were super creamy and delicious. Great dish! We had the pecan cheesecake and streusel for dessert, and they were also EXCELLENT. If you can overlook the staffing shortage, the hit or miss service and food pairings, and the relatively high prices, the food can be very rewarding. Wifey enjoyed her rib eye plate very much also. Recommended especially when very few places are open on Sunday dinners in Brevard!

After reading reviews I decided to check out Jordan Street Cafe to see if their Jordan burger was indeed one of the best. I'm happy to report it was delicious. It came with crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, and dijonnaise (Dijon mayo). Their fries (which look like "swirls") are a delightful mix of crispy and soft & fluffy. Ask for their parmesan peppercorn dressing which is their version of ranch. Nice little twist to dip them in and a nice switch up from ketchup. The bartender said their sweet potato fries are the best so I'll try them next time. The best way to enjoy your dining experience is to first read the home page of their website. They don't have traditional table service, so you'll place your order at one of the bars, they'll give you an order # which you'll take to the table of your choice along with your drink. I chose to sit outside on the patio as it was a beautiful, cool evening. Someone will bring your food and some rolled silverware when it's ready. Meanwhile if you need more condiments, napkins, to go boxes etc it's all off to the side neatly stacked at the bar. If you want drink refills just go to the bar as well. So next time you're in Brevard, check out this little side street haunt. You'll be glad you did.

Jordan Street Cafe is a hidden gem offering a great variety of American fare in a low-key, casual dining spot. Upon entering, you’ll stand in line to order at the counter, then grab a seat on either side of the restaurant. The staff will run your food to you and take care of clearing your table. Their burger and fries are a crowd favorite—always delicious, and I consistently get mine a perfectly cooked medium-rare. The Shrimp and Grits is another standout dish, with just the right amount of heat and a generous portion that’s great for sharing. I also recommend the maple pecan salad, which is fresh with mixed greens, and a flavorful dressing, and comes with the option to add chicken or fish. They offer desserts, and a full bar with signature cocktails, making it a well-rounded foodie experience. The focus is definitely on food quality rather than ambiance and decor, and that’s part of what makes this place popular with locals. I’ve brought small groups here, and each time, everyone has found something they enjoy and left with great things to say. Free public parking is available on W. Jordan Street, through the intersection on the left, just past the bank.

I wanted to give this place five stars, however due to a terrible handling of a situation I had to drop it down. I came here a couple of nights ago and was very much looking forward to a good meal as recommended by some locals. I ordered the California burger with sweet potato fries. This burger comes with portobello mushroom spinach avocado and roasted red pepper on it...sounds delicious. When the burger came out it looked beautiful and I started eating. A couple bites in I realized something was wrong. I have a nut allergy in my mouth was getting very itchy as though I had eaten something with nuts in it. At this point I proceeded to start dissecting my burger and upon closer inspection find what looks like pesto on the burger. I decided to check the menu and see if pesto was an item on this burger as I felt like perhaps I made a mistake. Check the menu, pesto is not listed. Call the waitress over and explain the situation. She is apologetic, but not necessarily understanding how severe the situation could have been. She offered to remake the toppings as I thought that was the only place that had the pesto on it. While waiting for my new toppings to come out my mouth is getting itchy, so I have to take a Benadryl. Now of course this isn't the first time this has happened to me, so I have dealt with this before. By the time I new toppings come out I can also feel that my throat is tightening up a bit. Now let me say this isn't a super severe allergy, it's not like I would need to go to the hospital or anything like that, however it's very uncomfortable and at this point difficult for me to swallow food. So I asked for my food to go explaining the situation that I'm really not feeling great at this point. So the waitress brings a to-go box and my bill. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager comes over and I explained the situation to her, very politely stating that I have a nut allergy and in all honesty they're lucky that this happened to me because my allergy is mild and had it been somebody with a severe allergy this could have been a serious problem. The manager didn't really seem to understand how serious of an issue this could be for someone. She said to me sometimes they make the pesto with nuts and sometimes they don't, are you sure there's nuts in it? Well, of course I am sure my mouth is itchy and yes when I was picking apart the burger I pulled nuts out to the side! And, that's besides the point since there shouldn't be any pesto on it to begin with. The waitress says sometimes the chef confuses the burger toppings. Then the manager randomly changes the subject to how her son has a poison ivy allergy and it bothers him every summer. It was obvious that she wasn't understanding how bad this could have been. I sympathize with people who have severe allergies. I am very careful when I order at restaurants and always ask if there's even a remote possibility of nuts in something... thought a burger was safe. I'm just very disappointed by the way the situation was handled. I took my food to go brought it back to my hotel and ate about an hour and a half later when my throat was finally feeling better. At this point I wasn't sure about eating the meat since it had been out for awhile, so I just threw that away. So I spent a lot of money on food that I didn't really get to eat and had a very uncomfortable situation at the restaurant. I feel like this was handled very very poorly. I sincerely hope that the manager considers how severe the situation could have been if it had happened to somebody else. Overall I'm sad to say what would have been a delightful meal and experience turned horrible, because it was just handled so poorly. The nonchalant attitude of the manager and waitress and the fact that they didn't offer any type of compensation at all was very disappointing. Sorry can't recommend this...

I was here many years ago & remember little about it other than not being wowed with my meal, however this is a favorite of my sister's & I always heard the bar menu was far better than the restaurant one (why do that?...) & it is now one & the same I understand. I was downtown with my 3 yr old son & wanted to try something different than our usual so checked their hours online & headed over early enough to beat the dinner crowd. They open at 4 & we arrived, according to them, at 4:50. There were several employees sitting at the bar & some at back tables writing out specials boards. No one got up but one lady asked "Can I help you?" I have never been greeted this way at a restaurant before so I asked if they were indeed open. I was told yes, however the main restaurant seating would not open til 5 nor would the specials be available til that time. Um, so why open at 4?? We tried a booth by the bar but there was no way my son could get close enough to reach food so as my water (not his) arrived I asked to move to the real tables as ours wasn't movable to get him close enough. Again, with less than 10 minutes til 5, I'm told no. They suggest the tiny round movable bar tables that sit along a bench that goes across most of the area. Not remotely practical, so at last we settle on the one option, a small table wedged in the front window. And we're the only inside diners! My son's water arrives in a disposable coffee cup. I've never seen that before! I chased down a straw that made it a little less weird. I ordered a wrap that came with a salad. The salad arrived first & I wasn't sure how you ate it without spilling it everywhere honestly as the plate was so tiny. There was a heap of lettuce surrounded by a blob of diced tomatoes, and 2 sections of carrot & cucumber slabs. It was just awkward. I had honey mustard which seemed to literally be yellow mustard with a touch of honey stirred in & goes down as the first thing I've ever sent back in a restaurant as it was nasty. I heard they also had bleu cheese & a vinagarette (that's it?) so tried the former but maybe the 3rd would've been the charm. The wrap was decent just struck me as a while lot jammed in a tortilla in lieu of seasoning & the ingredients (avocado, black beans, etc) are the sort that could use a little something. Salt at least! My son ordered pasta off the kids' menu. For some reason they pick spaghetti which has got to be the least kid-friendly pasta so I don't know why they use it but oh well! I sat there & cut it up while the waiter fetched a spoon & it was so mushy it smeared on the knife. He had wanted it without sauce but thankfully I had gotten it on the side as it had no butter or salt or anything on it & was so bland he quickly poured on the (mediocre) sauce. It was the tiniest dollop of spaghetti too, with no roll or side or anything, so after paying $6 for it he wound up eating half a pb&j on the way home we had left from lunch & another snack at home plus a big glass of milk. And he's a skinny 3 year old! The waiter was simply adequate. His timing was bad & he continued to explain specials containing meat to me even after I told him I'm vegetarian. Because maybe I want to pay $14 for a salmon salad without salmon?... From start to finish & on all points this was such an unsatisfactory experience. I virtually never review places - I remember 1 other I have - but this was such a letdown & one of the only times I can recall debating walking out, which I was doing even as we headed to the first booth. Maybe a great adult hangout/bar, I couldn't say. But for a casual date night on the town with your son... Save yourself a lot of frustration &...
