Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeāve been regulars at J&G Pizzeria ever since Brick Twp. used eminent domain to close Parkway Pizza, but something has clearly changed in the last few months and not for the better.
Two separate incidents in our family, two days apart, both after eating meat items here, led to sudden, severe GI illness. My dad got sick after a sausage parm (sudden nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea). Two days later, I had a pepperoni slice; about an hour afterward I had the same intense symptoms. I was the only one out of nine people who ate pepperoni, and the only one who got sick, which makes me think the meat items are not being properly handled.
Beyond that, over the last couple of months, the food itself isnāt the same as what weāve enjoyed since going to J&G when Parkway Pizza was forced to close. The recipes/prep seem different, and the overall quality has dropped. We also havenāt seen the owner in a while and noticed the entire staff appears new. I canāt say what changed behind the scenes, but from our perspective it feels like thereās been a turnover and that food preparation and storage standards may have slipped.
This is just our experience, but two āfood poisoningālikeā episodes in a week is enough for us to step away. I hope management takes a hard look at meat sourcing, cold-holding temps, and handling practices. For now, weāll be trying...

No clue how they stayed open for so long, because the owner Mike (not Big Mike, the manager/pizza maker) was a truly unpleasant little guy. The owner has another place on mantaloking. 14 years ago, I worked for him. He was rude to me and did not give me the eating privileges he gave other drivers. The main guy Big Mike who runs it, drives a motorcycle, is a great dude. He's in there making the pizzas and managing the store. He treated the workers with respect. But his cousin, who owns that place and whatever the one on mantaloking road in brick is called, a true jerk. He called me a fairy and fired me bc I forget to turn my light on that was on the top of my car. He cursed me out called a fairy and said I float around and fired me while screaming at me in front of everyone. He silently paid me and I left feeling humiliated. Hey, old boss. Hope you have the day, months, and years you deserve as the person you are. Props to the other guy though and...
