I recently had a Gender Reveal for my pregnancy. We have gotten Coldstone cakes from Brick many times in the past, so we thought an ice cream cake would be perfect to find out the gender of our baby. I reached out 3 weeks in advance to make sure that this is something they would do for me. After calling 3 times and requesting to speak to a manager, since the girls that picked up the phone didn't know the answer to my question, I was put on the phone with the owner. I explained what I would be looking for, and she said she would be able to make our cake. She told me the date to place the order and even gave me her cell phone number to place the order, which I forwarded to my friend who would be ordering the cake.
My friend reached out on a Saturday, as requested, and then continued to call and follow up each day until Wednesday. The owner only wrote "ok" as her response each time, even if my friend was asking a clarifying question. We were all set to pick up our cake in Brick on Friday, as far as I knew...
Before going to get the cake, I called the store to ensure my cake was ready. The girl on the phone said she would check, but then a voice in the background yelled, "All of today's cakes are ready for pick-up." She did not go to look for my specific cake, but I got in my car and drove 40 minutes to get my cake anyways. We went to pick up the cake only to find out that it wasn't there. They asked me to describe the cake, which I did, and I also said I spoke directly to the owner. The people in the store reached out to the owner, and she said, "I forgot to make the cake." No one apologized for the cake not being ready when it was supposed to be. Instead, they said the cake would be ready on Saturday, the day of my reveal, and made us pay for it before leaving.
I was nervous that the cake wouldn't be ready on time, so I decided to call the owner directly to get the exact pick up time for Saturday. I left her a voicemail, and she called back within a few minutes. I started the conversation out by stating, "I am the mother-to-be, and I do not want to discuss the cake at all. I only want to know what time to pick up my cake." The next words out of her mouth were, "Okay so it's a yellow cake with pink ice cream." I cut her off stating again that I am the mom to be, and asking why she would tell me that information that I did not want to know? I informed her again that she had spoken to my friend, and I only wanted to know the time pick-up time. I told her she ruined this entire experience for me and, instead of apologizing, she laughed!! She said, "haha haha okay okay... so how am I decorating the cake again?" My friend had sent her detailed texts with pictures, and she had NO clue how to decorate my cake at all!!
Not only did the owner of the store ruin my surprise, but she also put so much food dye in the cake that it was completely inedible. The entire cake had to be thrown out and there was no dessert for my family.
This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with ordering a dessert, especially one that was meant to be such a special surprise. Do not order from here, unless you want your special day to be ruined...
Read moreThis really deserves no stars...I’m a delivery driver for Uber eats and have never been treated with such hostility and rudeness. There was an older lady working all by herself when I arrived, and I politely introduced myself and gave the name of the order I was picking up. The woman immediately threw her hands up in the air and yelled “I’m not making that order again! Someone from door dash already picked this up!”. I told her I was sorry for the confusion and that I’d call the customer to find out what was going on. After speaking with the customer, i was told the order with door dash was canceled and that I was to deliver the order. After telling the employee “Hannah” what had happened, she insisted on not making the order! I told her I didn’t understand what the issue was since the order was paid for. It wasn’t like my customer was getting anything for free. She then repeated herself and said she wasn’t going to make the order again. I told her it wouldn’t be any different then someone else walking in and asking for the same items to be made. When she finally agreed to make them, she turns around and says “oh well I don’t even have anymore brownies so I can’t make the order anyway”. There were brownies on the counter RIGHT BEHIND HER. Once I pointed that out the animosity continued. She then picked up the tray with the brownies on it and told me they were going into the garbage. I told her I wanted a manager and that I wasn’t being treated fairly. I didn’t understand why she was so angry. Well long story short, she finally made the order and I was finally on my way to deliver it to my customer. I couldn’t believe what had unfolded all because she had to remake and order. Smh. Never again will I go there to...
Read moreWe were excited to bring to kids to a cold stone experience and unfortunately came out of this one likely not going back. The server with the dark glasses (assuming she’s new so trying to give her grace) kept touching the icecream with her fingers. They have the two spades to chop everything, mix it, usually put it in a “ball” …and the one gentleman with dark hair did just that with our last order. But the first 3 she struggled with getting the concept down and then kept scraping the one spade off with her fingers into our cup instead of using the other to roll it up and place it in. The gentleman even wore the plastic gloves even though he didn’t handle our order with his fingers..but he was great. My husband has worked in the food industry and honestly didn’t care, but I was grossed out for sure. It doesn’t have to look perfect with the presentation..but scraping my icecream into my cup with your fingers( no gloves) is simply unsanitary and avoidable. She likely just needs more training( everyone is new at some point )..but I hope someone addresses...
