UPDATE: My second delivery from Nonna Rosa will probably be my last.
As I said in my previous review, because the pizza fries had been good, I would give Nonna Rosa another try with a cheesesteak. Unfortunately it didn't really work out.
I ordered a cheese steak with fried onions and pizza fries at 8:47 p.m. I was told to expect a 35 to 45 minute wait. After an hour, I called to check on my order. I was told it would be at my apartment momentarily. At 10:02 p.m., some 75 minutes later, I received lukewarm soggy Pizza fries and a cold cheesesteak. I probably should have just refused them, but having waited so long I was quite hungry.
Unlike last time, when the pizza fries were great, this time they were very disappointing. Aside from being half-full, they were lukewarm and completely soggy. I'm talking spaghetti noodles soggy. They also did not taste nearly as good as the last time and were clearly previously frozen. The fries also lacked the nice spices they had previously. The cheesesteak, once reheated was actually very good. It had a nice beef flavor, the proper amount of cheese, and tasty grilled onions.
Needless to say, after my previous experience and this ridiculous wait for cold food I will not be ordering from Nonna Rosa again anytime soon.
Really 2.5 stars. Overall, just average.
I ordered lunch for delivery for myself and two friends. It took almost exactly the 45 minutes we were quoted for delivery. Delivery costs $2, with a $13 minimum order. We had a coupon for $5 off an order of $25 or more. We received napkins and plasticware, but no plates.
First, the pizza. A large pizza is 16 inches. We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. The pizza was very disappointing. It arrived having clearly having not been kept flat for delivery. Therefore, the majority of cheese and toppings had slid to one side of the pie (see photo). The pizza was very greasy, and had many large pools of grease on top of it. While it had a large crust, the dough that made up the pie was way too thin. I am talking millimeters thin. It was impossible to fold a slice in half because each time you tried it would break off at the crust. Even eating a slice with two hands was very difficult. The flavor was also disappointing in several ways. Overall, flavor was just lacking. The cheese had very little flavor. The toppings had very little flavor. How can you have flavorless pepperoni and mushrooms? While it tasted okay, there was very little sauce. I really can't see any reason I would order pizza again from Nonna Rosa.
Second, the pizza fries. These were definitely some of the best pizza shop pizza fries I have had in a while. The fries themselves were flavourful, as was the sauce on them. Unlike many other places, spices were also added on top of the fries which really added to them. This was a nice bonus. While there was an adequate amount of cheese, I always feel that there is never quite enough cheese when I order pizza fries from any place. The pizza fries were also very reasonably priced. I would definitely order fries again, and wish that the place I usually order from emulated these.
My friends also had salads; one had the half chicken Caesar, and the other had the half Italian salad. Both said that they enjoyed them very much. I only tried some onions from the Italian, which were fresh and tasty. The half size was quite big and a good deal.
Unfortunately the somewhat slow delivery and mediocre pizza ruined my experience. That being said, I would give Nonna Rosa another try ordering some kind of fries and a cheesesteak, or maybe pasta. If I do, I will...
Read moreI ordered a cheesesteak, a pizza, curly fries and loaded pierogies. The only thing that was semi-warm was the cheesesteak everything else was room, temperature or colder. So I called and the guy on the phone told me that they what they do they guarantee room temperature food they donât guarantee hot food because they canât send hot food and I never heard of that in my entire life especially since the distance is literally, less than 2 miles like a mile and a half. The food itself is good the pierogies werenât, but the cheesesteak was excellent. Pizza is good. It is a shame that the Customer Service is that way. I suppose I should just be grateful that they got the order right this time I wonât be ordering from them again.
Update. The owner of the company Cesar called me today and profusely apologized and said that thatâs not how they do business. He even offered me a full credit for the food and said that I was a valued customer several times and I do believe him and I do believe that this man does good business, so thank you Cesar for your call today and I will absolutely be ordering from...
Read moreWe bought the 16" square Pizza margarita, the crust was great but way to much sugar in the san marzano sauce. Let the tomato do all the work, doesn't need to be sweeter. The fresh mozz was low grade at best, once it cooled you couldn't bite through it and it was very thin. They need a better fresh mozz for this kind of pie. We also had 3 cheese steaks, 1 was a grilled chicken Florentine, it was very good but you guys don't let the cheese melt? The other was a beef cheese steak hoagie with Xtra cheese. I opened it and the 6 pieces of cheese were not even close to melted and with the lettuce on the bottom, kinda hard to reheat. The 3rd steak was the same with the cheese not melted. I had a good pie in the restaurant a few months back, maybe it doesn't travel well? I would rather eat in than order a...
