I found White's Diner while looking for a local non chain place to eat before we left the area on a Sunday morning to return home. The diner had positive reviews so we decided to give it a try in support of local establishments.
It's a small , quaint place located on a busy intersection and shopping plaza. The first challenge we encountered was finding a place to park, once I found a space we entered and didn't have to wait to be seated, which was nice since we were anxious to get on the road for the long trip back home.
There was a bit of a wait from the time we ordered until the food arrived but it was worth it. The portions were large , served fresh and hot. I had to take the rest of my order in a to go box. I ordered blue berry pancakes, omelet with peppers and onions and a bowl of grits (I don't often eat grits at unknown restaurants) each of the items were prepared to order and were very good.
The only negative to the experience is that we didn't feel the waitstaff was attentive after we placed the order, not once did she come by to see if we were enjoying the food, or if we needed anything else i.e. napkins, more juice etc. Even when I asked for the to go container another waitress handed it to me.
I see a lot of the reviews complimenting the staff being bilingual and that's a plus as many Spanish speaking patrons entered the establishment and we could hear the conversations as they were seated and exchanged pleasantries with the staff. We didn't feel or receive the same type of welcome or exchange .
I recommend the diner for breakfast, however, more consideration should be given to make all customers feel welcomed and...
Read more2 orders the Chris's breakfast. Each order came with steak, 2 eggs I got over easy, 2 piece of I chose Rye toast, choice of potatoes I chose HomeFries 😋, 2 Pancakes or French toast and I chose one of each. The French toast was rich and creamy, the Pancakes fluffy and big, the steak was cooked perfectly as I asked for medium, the toast was buttered to perfection, the HomeFries were seasoned and cooked just right, and the eggs over easy were exactly that no slimey white stuff perfectly over easy just the delicious yoke to dunk my toast. Their coffe is out of this world also and I got bacon egg and cheese sandwiches here before and they are also great soft hard roll with just the right amount of chew, the bacon was collasal, and everything is on point each time I go. Chris's meal also comes with a coffe and a O.J. if you stay to eat, but I usually get my meals to go so I can relax with the family at home. The people are nice, the prices are decent, and if you ask they will give you the condiments to take home aswell. They do get crowded, but my god the food and the people her are well worth it. The only reason I did not give them five stars is the prices don't match the menu online and I also thought the drinks came with the meal as well because it doesn't say only if you eat in or anything and I just Luke...
Read moreSo I’ve been going to this place for nearly 10 years regularly . I always get the sausage biscuits and gravy with 3 Sunny eggs and bowl of grits. With meal also comes with coffee and small oj . I haven’t been there for a few months. All the old staff is gone . Me and my mother were ignored quite a bit.
My problem was I was served rotten/spoiled meat from the gravy sauce. It smelled rotten and tasted spiced/bitter. They took it back and asked what else i would like. Simple.. 3 eggs home fries and rye toast.
Round 2 ; eggs come out undercooked , potatoes were great… I start eating , here comes the rye toast . With a big old spot of mold on the side of the bread.
I show her the mold. She apologizes. After my meal was butchered and laid to rest. I was still charged full price.
I USED to love this place. Now I don’t think I would return. Ooo. And...
