If you want a thorough and honest review from a former employee, come no further. To start, the manager (David) is a good guy at heart but can be very off-putting at times because his heart and soul is into the restaurant. He's been working for the restaurant since he was a young boy and will do whatever it takes to keep his family's legacy going. With that being said, he can put a lot of stress on the employees but he also holds them to a pretty high standard. So if you've had a problem with a server not knowing the items or an item that wasn't cooked right it was most likely someone new because he won't put up with mistakes for too long. Overall the food is good and fairly priced. In my opinion, try the chicken or steak salads. The menu is filled with great food but those are my favorites. The atmosphere is very family friendly and can get very loud at times when the restaurant is full. David holds a VERY strict policy where your entire party must be present to be seated, so be warned. Friday and Saturday nights you will almost always have to wait, but it is worth it. The pies are baked fresh in the restaurant, and the soup is homemade from the Wooden Angel's kitchen and is amazing. Pecan balls and high school sundaes are deserts big enough to share for sure and are worth it so save room. You won't go wrong by picking Bert's, and if you've had a bad experience then try something new, sit towards the back of the restaurant if possible, and be patient.
