Having successfully deposited our dear and only daughter at nearby Geneva College, the wife and I, along with the manling, decided to do a walking tour of the lovely and scenic downtown Beaver, PA. After working up appetite, we decided to try out Yama Japanese Restaurant, having heard good things about it from a previous trip up here back in October (it was closed then, but I assure you it is open now!).

Now I've had lots of sushi, including lots of sushi in the Pennsylvania area, and let me just say that this place was top-notch! Great menu full of favorites (including lots of options for non-sushi-fans, bless their hearts). Fantastic lunch specials that were extremely well priced and filling, which is what we settled on. I can't recall the specific names of what we each got (see the pictures below), but we were all fully satisfied by our choices. The fish tasted very fresh and high quality, and the rolls were prepared quite well. The service was both fast (for a sushi joint) and friendly, and the ambiance was lovely and inviting. Great place to have a dinner with friends or a more intimate meal for two. We will almost certainly be back on future visits...

Just got in to town and wanted to grab some thing to eat before venturing back out. The sign said they didn’t close for another hour and a half. As soon as we walked in a guy came up and said we only have kitchen food, no sushi. We said that’s fine we don’t eat sushi. There were only 2 other customers in there sitting at the sushi bar. The phone was ringing off the hook, when the girl answered the phone, the guy told her to tell people that they were too busy to take any more orders. Then he said just let it ring, so we had to sit there and listen to the phone ring the whole time we ate. Apparently they didn’t want anymore customers that day, they girl gave us our food and never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. Food was...

Ordered medium well filet mignon and it was red! Same as my daughter who got med rare. Wen I brought it to the waitress attention she said that med well. I told her but mines the same as my daughter who got med rare... She said probably just a cpl. We opened all my steak to show that it wasn't just a cpl and she did nothing. Not even offer to ask cook to cook it more. The rice was over cooked and not fried!! If it was then it fooled us. Maybe been precooked in fridge for days. For $100 for 2 to eat it should be made fresh. We will stick with ichiban and shogun. I'm so disappointed! We didn't even like the soup that we took home because our appetite was gone after knowing we wasted our money there and still had to go...

Absolutely very impressed. I read reviews before I try the restaurant and I look for the negativity if there's ever somebody mentioned something and I see nothing wrong with this place at all. Very clean, the food was absolutely delicious. My waitress MEI.... Gave me plenty of attention. For the people that mentioned masks the whole staff had masks on. I mentioned for her to surprise me. Excellent choices. The dumplings were very fresh and good. And the three different sushis I had are very fresh. Definitely one of my top five sushi restaurants in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Keep up the great work thank you so much MEI 👍🏾🙏🙌♥️

Amazing!!! Wonderful food, wonderful staff, wonderful service, and an amazing atmosphere, if you want sushi go here for sure!! Update!! Ever since my first visit I have came here 2 to 3 times a week this place never disappoints I have been trying a lot of their sushi and so far the spicy scallop roll by far is my favorite and there gyoza (not sushi) is amazing. Still have not gotten sick from eating their food, and comparatively it’s not that expensive sushi lovers and non-sushi lovers alike. Need to try Yama Japanese restaurant!! It is a hidden gem in Beaver!!
