Carol's Cakes — Restaurant in Bridgewater

Purchased a specialty cake from Carol's Cakes for February 24th for a 50th birthday celebration. Picked up the cake on Saturday the 22nd since the shop is not opened on Monday. Stored the cake in the fridge overnight, next morning went to check on the cake, and noticed something may be wrong immediately, when I opened the fridge noticed a large grease spot on the front panel of the box so I checked under the lid, and as I expected, an absolute catastrophe, the top cake slid off of the bottom cake split into three separate portions, way beyond repair as you will see from the pictures I downloaded. Texted the owner about the situation, and she explained to me she was gone for the weekend and would be back at the beginning of the week. It has been twelve days since I contacted her, never heard from her just to check on my situation, had no cake to present for the party, was way to embarrassed to display this cake. I spent $177 on this cake, and had to tell all of my friends there was no cake (how embarrassing). The cost of the cakeis not what bothers me, I had no problem paying what was charged, I get it you pay what the price dictates, my problem is with the lack of concern for the predicament I was placed in. Not even a return call, that's what bothered me the most. I would give zero stars if possible just due to the callousness of the shop not being concerned of the position I was in. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE:

Good Day. I just called there and ask if a cake could be made for next Saturday. December 4th.

I asked for a "round Red Velvet cake with green icing". Then I was asked "what kind of filling". I asked "what would you reccomend"?

She then proceeded to tell me that she "hates Red Velvet" then recommended some filling choices.

YOU SHOULD NEVER TELL A CUSTOMER YOU HATE SOMETHING THEY ARE TRYING TO ORDER.

Oh by the way I heard her say "She just hung up on me" and I heard you so I didn't! :-(

Why would I want to order my cake when the words " I hate that type of cake" cake outta your mouth. That tells me NOT to trust you! So I simply said "I need to talk with my husband". Which he laughed when I told him what you said!!

Carol did our wedding cake 15 years ago and it was beautiful. Unfortunately, when we went to eat our top tier a year later it wasn’t wrapped up correctly and tasted like everything that had ever been inside our freezer and we were pretty disappointed. For our 15th anniversary I decided that I wanted to have our cake recreated.

We were not disappointed! Lauren did such a wonderful job on our cake. Not only was it beautiful but it was the fluffiest most moist cake we’ve ever had. I am so happy that I had it recreated. I’m looking forward to having Lauren do more cakes for me in the future!
